Color Throwdown 2

HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE! We had a great dinner last night at friends of ours with loads of delicious food and lots of fun! I decides to skip breakfast today, because I am still not hungry and then we have some more celebrating to do at my in-laws. My daughter came home last night - she will join us today, yeah! I LOVE  those  colors at the  Color Throwdown challenge , and here is my second take on it: The tree stamp is from Outlines stamps - sadly went out of business, the sentiment is Hero Arts. Embellished with Stickles and Perfect Pearls, the punched out star is from Michaels

Second Chances and Color Throwdown

I thought long about this A Blog named Hero  challenge and managed at the last minute to come up with something. I usually rather create something new, instead of rehashing.....And I am not sure, if I like my new card better. But here they are: THE NEW: THE OLD: Of course, to be efficient I made this to fit this  The Color Throwdown challenge Stamps are from Hero Arts, except the large dot, which is from A Muse

kis! # 1: Türkis und Gelb - A Passion for Papertrey (2)

How fun! Found the first German CAS challenge   KEEP IT SIMPLE  and   A Passion for Papertrey   and could not resist to make a card for both of them! After all CAS is my favorite style, although I still struggle at times with it. And Papertrey is one of my favorite stamping companies! Here is my second card: Sorry for the two blog posts, but that is the only way I can upload both cards into the challenge as far as I know. Still so much to learn in blogland.... The numbers and sentiment are from Papertrey By the Numbers Die Collection Modern Basics Stamp Set the stamp is Papersource embellished with Stickles and perfect pearls butterfly punch : Martha Stewart

kis! # 1: Türkis und Gelb - A Passion for Papertrey (1)

How fun! Found the first German CAS challenge KEEP IT SIMPLE  and A Passion for Papertrey    and could not resist to make a card for both of them! After all CAS is my favorite style, although I still struggle at times with it. And Papertrey is one of my favorite stamping companies! Made two cards - after all its two different challenges.... just an excuse to stay longer in my card room and here is the first card: The numbers and sentiment are from Papertrey By the Numbers Die Collection Modern Basics Stamp Set Stickles used for embellishment

Thanks!

Here  I am, totally distressed about my blog pictures not showing....took solace in making this card for the  CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #6 and   colourQ challenge #163 ...and linked it up with  Simon Says ,,,,,, Thanksgiving / Thank You ! :-)  here are the inspiration photos: I really had a hard time whit those colors, struggled with them last night, but then the inspiration hit me. I had this paper bag from Paper Source lying around and low and behold - those are their colors!! Used it for the background  The stamp is Hero Arts Pop Stems, embellished with Stickles and perfect pearls. The die cut is from Memory Box

More Holiday Cards and a Video

I made two cards this morning with that cute Santa gnome from Paper Source on a Paper Source envelope. I stamped them on white paper, colored them with Copics and fuzzy cut them. The sentiment is from Hero Arts. The patterned paper of the tree is from Michael's as is the star punch. On one card I put Stickles - can't decide which version I like better....          Here is a video from my son's performance last night at their school's talent show: ENJOY THE SHOW!!!

CHALLENGE #15 THE OL' 1 - 2 PUNCH

I recently got this cute snowman die cut set from Papertrey. This makes for quick cards, both with the positive and negative die cut. Here is an example with the negative die. I love how this pairs up with this beautiful Hero Arts sentiment from the large clear set - Holiday wishes I submitted this to the A Blog named Hero challenge #15 http://ablognamedhero.blogspot.co.nz/2012/11/challenge-15-ol-1-2-punch.htm

CAS(E) this Sketch! Challenge #5

Just a very quick post - before the sketch challenge closes! ( http://casethissketch.blogspot.com  ) I love their layouts. Unfortunately I missed the last two challenges - hurricane Sandy interfered. For this card I used Purple onion design sentiment strip. The bird is from Inkadinkadoo, clear embossed and  I used various punches.

Hero Arts Scramble 52

Todays Hero Arts scramble was hosted by Kathy (krolski). the theme was use a border punch and a background stamp. My son decided to join in the fun and here are his 2 cards: I love the way he chose the colors - kids are just not afraid of using non-traditional colors - he would have done well in the last scramble, too. I am very proud of him. And for sure he enjoyed all the comments he got on flickr. And here are my cards -managed to squeeze out three, puh, that was almost stressful!

CASology - Orange

Just putting in a card for the CASology week #18 challenge ( http://casology.blogspot.com ) - the theme is ORANGE. Happens to be my favorite color. Unfortunately I had little time to come up with something, but I like what I did: The sentiment is Studio112, bird die cut and pearls - Memory Box. The background paper is from me&my BIG ideas

Card Recycling

Just a quick post today. I cleaned up my stamp room for hours last night, as we had friends over today and their daughter wanted to make some cards. I came upon this card from the October Hero Arts scramble: Clearly, something could be done about this. I cut away the yellow embossing that failed so miserably, glued it on pink card stock, choose a similar color for the sentiment strip and - voila!  I am now happy with the result! I submitted this card to the Simon Says thinking of you/sympathy card challenge http://simonsaysstampschallenge.blogspot.com/2012/11/simon-says-thinking-of-you-sympathy.html Well, and thanks to Lin I am also submitting this to the Playdate cafe challenge - I guess it fits :) http://theplaydatecafe.blogspot.com/ The Chevron stripes are from Hero Arts - Zig Zag Thanks, sentiment Hero Arts - Essential Messages Thanks for looking, hope you enjoyed it!

Square Punch

Here is a card I made for the Moxie Fab "Square Punch Challenge" on one of my "power-less" days after hurricane Sandy. http://www.moxiefabworld.com/2012/10/paper-crafting-tips-tricks-week-square.html The squares I punched from paint chips - courtesy of Home Depot. I stuck the squares on a clear packaging tape and sprinkled glitter on it. The sentiment is from the Papertrey set "Happy Trails"  - one of my favorite sets.   And here is another card: I made this card for Virginia Lu - she picked me as a winner and I got myself this beautiful background stamp from  Market Street Stamps called Funky Herringbone. I heat embossed it and colored it with Copics. The sentiment is from Hampton Art (Michaels)

Life after Sandy

Finally life is getting back to normal after Sandy tore through New York and New Jersey on 10/29/2012, causing immense destruction. The devastation is just unbelievable. We were lucky, as we had no damage to our house and the damage to our trees was relatively minor. We lost power on Monday evening and we got it back pretty much a week later. I brought my freezer to a friend of mine and we huddled together by candlelight in front of our gas fireplace in the living room. To have a gas stove and gas boiler for water heating helped, too. Work on Tuesday was quite chaotic, but actually little to do, since one of the generators failed and one was not enough for most things to function. On Wednesday - my day off - we largely worked in the yard, to free it from debris - it was too cold inside anyhow. School was cancelled for an entire week. Here are some Sandy pictures: Here is the wind whipping our Yew bush in front of the house Monday afternoon - foreboding of worse things to come
