Woodblock Wednesday - Hip Hippo Ray

Hi Everyone, I am playing along with  Woodblock Wednesday  from Amy Tsuruta. It's such a good excuse to play with my wonderful wood stamps! I used two of them for this simple card!  I used one of my gel press backgrounds from my never ending stash..... I stamped the hippos onto a strip of white card stock. Trimmed it to size and added a bit pf patterned paper along the upper and lower border. Assembled it and added the little dots. The stamps are from Rubber Soul. Hope you liked this. Thanks for visiting! Happy Stamping! Woodblock Wednesday - U R Purrfection

Hi Everyone, I am playing along with  Woodblock Wednesday  from Amy Tsuruta. It's such a good excuse to play with my wonderful wood stamps! And since Valentine's Day is near I thought I make an appropriate card for that occasion - for cat lovers anyway...it also would work for a bunch of other occsions. I first stamped the cats (Stampotique). Then I masked off a stripe. Made myself a mask for the cats and brushed the background with distress inks in rainbow colors. Stamps the dots (All Night Media).  Took the masks off and colored the cats with alcohol ink markers. Added white Posca pen accents. Stamped the sentiment (Rubber soul) and added 2 enamel dots. And here are all those wonderful woodblock stamps: Hope you liked this. Thanks for visiting! Happy Stamping! Woodblock Wednesday #1

Hi Everyone, I am playing along with the Woodblock Wednesday challenge that Amy Tsuruta is starting over at Instagram. She also has a linky list on her blog. I have sooooo many neglected wood stamps, that are desperate for some ink. Since I am sure I don't have enough Christmas cards AGAIN.... I decided on making one more.  this was quite easy. The cat is by Rubber Soul, the tree is Hero Arts, the ornament A Muse stamps and the sentiment I have no idea. I did a little bit of coloring with markers and  white paint. Added Stickles to the tree, because everything is better with a bit of glitter! The bottom I doodled (inspired by Sandy Allnock) Happy Woodblock Stamping! Big Thanks

Hi Everyone, a quick post today with a CAS card or better two, although they were not quite as simple as they look.... I started out masking off a strip on the card and sponging in pink. Added the hippo in navy blue, but to my dismay it looks almost black. Added the sentiment in grey. Then I thought I give it another go with a lighter blue ink - same steps, except that this ink alos does not look navy. I did shift the hippo up a bit, so that I could fir two complete sentiments below it, but then I was unhappy with how it looked and added another sentiment on top. I actually like both versions, although the first one a tad better. My stamp supplies are:  sentiment: CASual Fridays hippo: Rubber Soul (ancient wood stamp) Linking up with: CASual Fridays - pink, navy, white Muse - see Kay Millers fabulous card below  (grey background stamping and colorful focal point) CASE this Sketch - see below Double D challenges - silhouetttes...

Muse Christmas Vision #39

Hi Everyone, I am playing along with the  Muse Christmas Vision  and our Muse is Kimberly Wiener from Wiener Honeymooners , yeahh! Kim used a fun skiing snowman and I wanted to keep my card fun too! The most fun snowman i have is the one from Rubber Soul, an ancient set. Not sure if it still exists...Other than that I basically copied Kim's card - watercoloring, stars and a frame, which I just doodled. Put some Stickles on the stars. You see, I stayed pretty close to the original: So, are you inspired? I bet you are! See you at MCV ! Also linking up with: Christmas Card challenges - anything goes ATSM - Holiday

A Bird and a Hippo

Hi Everyone,  you probably are thinking now I that I am completely crazy, but don't worry, I'm not.... I made this card specifically for my blogging friend Carol from Just me: c, after she left me a real funny blog comment about the birds being larger than hippos in her part of the world...never mind that she lives in Canada and they ain't havin' hippos there, chuckle... Used one of those crazy birds by Tim Holtz. The sentiments are by  Stamplorations - Noteworthy  and Hero Arts. Also used one of the Mixed Media Grunge stamps . The hippo is by Rubber soul. The colors I got from Colour me....! - see below. Added splatters, of course. Linking up with : The Male Room - birds Colour me....! Merry Monday #76 and a FUN Day

Hi Everybody, there were 5 hours left to make a snowman card for Merry Monday when I checked this morning - lets get started! I used my brand new Sizzix embossing folder, some Washi tape on the sides and a stamp from Fiskars. The snowman is from Rubber soul. I heat embossed it and paper pieced it and propped it up on foam tape. Some twine to finish it. Really quick - just my kind of card! I am also linking this up with this weeks Simon Says challenge - Anything goes --X-- And guess where my new embossing folder is coming from? I went to the Scrapbook Expo yesterday with my sister and some of my brand new crafting friends: Here are we - from left to right: Ren-Yi from Little Tangles , me, Charlene also from Little Tangles, my sister and Elke - not sure if she has a blog. See how color coordinated we are - we are almost forming a rainbow! We shopped 'till we dropped - I could barely carry my bag in the end - my credit card company act...

Creative Friday #85 and Hello to 2 new Members

Two new members on my little blog - I can't believe it! For a long time membership was kind of flat, so this is very exciting!  Michelle  is on the design team for Simon Says and loves vintage. Mary  has been in blog land since March 2012 and uses a variety of styles - even has given mixed media a try! There are treasures to find on each blog - perhaps you want to check them out yourself! I choose this as my welcome picture: I usually choose some modern artist for that - this is different. It is a "collage" of used glass molds for glass blowing. I found this on a recent visit to Vermont, where I visited the Simon Pearce workshop in Quechee. So it's kind of vintage, with a modern feel to it....I hope you like it! --X-- With a color inspiration over at Creative Friday  like this I can't resist.... Here is my card: The background squares I cut from left over rubber snippets (when you buy sheets of stamps) and stamp...

A Holiday Card for 4 Challenges

Cuttlebug Mania's challenge is anything goes with embossing, whereas Jingle Bells has "tic tac toe " this week. I went with the top row - snowman, glitter and embossing.  The stamps are from Rubber soul. I fuzzy cut the snowman and propped up the different layers with foam tape to make it 3-D. The nose is paper-pieced. The embossing folder is from Cuttlebug. I smeard some Stickles on top of the snowflakes to add the glitter. Addicted to CAS has a Holiday theme and I am submitting this card to that challenge as well. And Dynamic Duos has black and light aqua with optional embossing - I hope they can forgive me the orange nose..... Simon Says has MONOCHROMATIC as a theme ans yes, there is that orange nose , but one of their DT members also featured snowmen with orange noses, so I guess I'll get by.... Are you ready for more Canada pictures? The first seven pics are taken along the Icefield Parkway. We did a short hike to...
