Happy Birthday Maria!

Another Blog Land Birthday Celebration!!!!! Happy 50 Birthday   Maria! (from  rieslingmama ) You are amazingly creative, witty and fun! I'm glad I met you through blogging. You are always an inspiration to me! I wish you fifty more, my friend! This cake I found for you on Pinterest - I thought it best reflects your style - innovative, clean and a bit wonky ;) And here is my birthday card for you - I actually send you one through snail mail - that was before I got wind of the linky party that Shirley  clevery organized. The linky will be up for 2 weeks, so anybody can join into this celebration. Enjoy you BIG BIRTHDAY Maria! I used the Papertrey Rainbow Stripes die with the inlaid die cut technique. The balloons are Mama Elephant - Party Kit, the sentiment is Papertrey Think Big Favorites. I am also linking this card with  CASology  - the cue word is BLUSH and Seize the Birthday   - anything birth...

Dynamic Duos and Paper Players

Ahhh, another combination challenge - its Black and yellow at Dynamic Duos and CAS with Stars at The Paper Players . I needed a card for my daughters birthday and thought stars is just the right thing for her.  I used a stencil that I bought a gazillion years ago and was still unused..... the company is called Coffee break design - not sure if they still exist..... The stars are by Mama Elephant Party Kit, I used the matching die. The small stars are a Michaels punch and the sentiment is Hero Arts Essential Messages. I am also linking this up with Seize the Birthday   anything birthday -optional hearts --X-- Ready for more snow pictures? If not, then don't scroll down.... I went with my son to a little waterfall nearby - I just love how it looks in winter! Stay warm and have a great day!

Lavinia #9 - Bright and Hot colors

I made this card for the Lavinia challenge - its bright and hot colors this month. I used watercolor paper and distress inks, which I stamped onto an acrylic block, misted it with water and stamped it onto the watercolor paper.  I doodled around it and used this pretty poppy silhouette stamp from Lavinia stamps, which I stamped twice, since its kind of small. Added some white dots as accents. I kind of like it - nice to make something different from my Christmas card frenzy... --X-- I did add a sentiment later, however the challenge rules are to use ONLY Lavinia stamps - uh oh - I wonder if they kick me out now.... Well I am taking the risk - it needed a sentiment (Mama Elephant) Have a great day! I'll be in Chicago next week, so don't expect too much from me over the next couple of days.....

Hero Arts Scramble #73

Hi, today my friend Kanan was hosting the Scramble over at the Hero Arts flickr group . I had to play, of course.... She had some challenging themes: P-1 :  Old Fashioned & Earth - Old-fashioned  – something inspired by vintage design or old look Earth  – your own interpretation of the word earth (say, earthy colors (shades of brown, blues, greens...any other you can think of) , the shape of earth) OR P-2 :  Simplicity & Layers - Simplicity  – displaying a clean and simple design Layers  – you can use layered stamping technique or layers of papers or both, the choice is yours. Of course I had to do the second options - easier and suits me better.... I used the Hero Arts Zig Zag Background Cling stamp at an angle, layered some Washi tape across, but the thinner one I first put on card stock paper, since I did not like the see-through of the background. I punched the speech bubbles and stamped the words inside. The little ampers...
