Homework and Make it Monday

I managed to make one of my "homework cards" from the CAS class - I was intrigued by those cute tiles that Julie Ebersole tought us the how to on day 1! Made it into a baby card: Used an ancient Sizzix die and a cuttlebug embossing folder. Some tissue paper, silver string and sequins. Its easy but the effect is great! I love it! I am also linking this card with the Snippets Playground - use a snippet (the tile paper) and with Happy Little Stampers - Embossing ( the tile is clear embossed) But I also love the effect you can achieve when layering cover plate die cuts, as Dawn McVey teaches us in this weeks Make it Monday. Looks cool, don't you think? Both the cover plate and sentiment are Papertrey. Added enamel dots. I am also playing with this card in: IN{K}SPIRE_me , using different greens and grey.    Seize the Birthday  - anything goes I thought I share - finally we got some snow - this is a picture of my front yard! ...

Paper Smooches and CASual Fridays

Paper Smooches has an additional challenge going on as part of their anniversary celebrations. The theme is fun and cute - just the right thing for me! You can win cool new acrylic blocs - never can have to many of those, right? So I started to play. I just love interactive cards. I also got inspiration from CASual Fridays  - the theme is: not an A2 card. I pulled out my cute Paper Smooches set Zoo Crew and here we go - my card - it measures 4x6 : I first punched the circle. Then I masked a strip of on the front of the card and stamped the leaves and sponged over them. I stamped the sentiment onto the circle.  Then I put some eyelets in the card on top and two in the circle and threaded twine through it.  I stamped the crocodile on the inside of the card - I drew the opening with a pencil to know where to place it.  I used Inktense pencils to color the leaves and the crocodile. I doubled up the lid, to hide the back of th...

Blog Candy Thanks

I have been very busy the last couple of days - so sorry my new members for the late greeting! But here it is - thank you Kate  - sorry, could not find a link Beverly  - sorry, could not find a link Sherrie  for joining my blog. I so much appreciate you and everyone else who just comes and visits. I have a welcome picture for you: Generally I like to show art pictures -  this is actually art made by a spider or insect, who nestled the egg sac into a leave. So sorry I neither know the critter, nor do I know the name of the plant - let me know, if you do. But I do think its amazingly beautiful and I hope you like it as much as I do. --X-- Recently I was the very lucky winner of Rosi's  generous blog candy. Not only did she send me a lot of goodies, but she made me a beautiful card and an adorable mini album that you can see HERE . I had to make a special than you card for her. I finally tried out those f...

Make my Monday

Make My Monday has this beautiful inspiration photo, to entice us to play in their challenge. You guessed it - I could not resist. Anything on black always just pops - I love that. I got this beautiful Memory Box die from my blogging friend Sylvie in Gibraltar as part of a give-away I was lucky to win. So that's my first time using it. I colored it with Copics. The sentiment I white embossed - it is from Inkadinkadoo. The butterflies is a Martha Stewart punch. The card is very different, from what I usually make - I hope you like it! I linked this card also up with the Simon Says Anything goes challenge . --X-- And in case you don't - perhaps you'll like my cave pictures from my Texas trip. The cave is called "Cave Without A Name. In a naming contest (1940) a  young boy suggested that the cave "was too beautiful to have a name". He won the contest and received a 250 dollar cash prize, which was a huge amount of money back then....

Papertrey color inspiration #3

Today  - after cleaning my messy craft room I decided to play along with the Papertrey color inspiration #3 Those colors appealed to me as did this gorgeous inspiration picture. And here is the card that I came up with, using Papertrey 's Polka Dot Basics set and chalk inks. The sentiment is Hero Arts Fancy Script Messages (LL157). I put three little dots of Perfect Pearls next to the sentiment. And guess what - Linky has expired, oh well. I still had fun making the card. --X-- And to make this not so boring I am going to show you some pictures from a a walk I did near my house last Saturday after the big snowstorm. Of course most of this has melted away by now - how sad. I hope you enjoyed this little excursion through winter wonderland. thank you for all your beautiful comments you are leaving on my blog - they always put a smile on my face!

Sports

This weeks  Less is More  challenge has "Sports" as a theme. I have a paucity of sports stamps and the few I have I did not feel like using. So I searched the internet for a suitable sentiment ( by Eric Shanteau) to make this card "fit the challenge". I am sure those ladies will have a great time swimming after their drinks.... The stamp is from Art Impressions, colored with Copics. Thanks everybody for your nice comments on my prior blog posts - I so appreciate you taking the time to leave a note.  And here are some more of my Ithaca pictures: Today we have ice rain and slush outside, so that kind of fits.   I hope you liked them.

Moody Blues

I discovered this crafts 4 eternity challenge recently and really liked their inspiration picture. I thought I will use those colors in an idea I recently had. I got those letter stencils at Michaels and wanted to make word cards with them in different colors just with sponging. That can be used for any season or just as a background - all those possibilities swirling around in my head.....  I am not totally happy with the fonts that were available, but they were cheap enough that nothing much is lost..... At CASology  this week's theme is WINTER, so I am also submitting this card to this challenge. Here is the card I made. The colors are the closest I could find in my stash for the color challenge: The snowflakes are from Inkadinkadoo and I put Stickles on the small ones to add some sparkle. AHH and since its winter I thought I show you some pictures from my Christmas vacation in Ithaca. It was sooo pretty there. I wish we had some snow...
