Dream Valley Challenge #82 and Cure for the Monday Blues

Its time for a new challenge at  Dream Valley Challenge  - the theme is "things with wings" That's easy - anything from Mosquitoes to fairies is welcome....You have two week to link up with us - I hope to see you there!  I took my inspiration from  Addicted to Stamps and More I immediately fell in love with this pretty picture when I saw it and wanted to recreate it. I sponged the pink square, making myself a stencil with a piece of scrap paper and a punch. I also used the negative die cut from the branch to sponge on the branch. The flowers I punched using the scrap paper stencil sides, which had already ink on them......Did some sponging on the bird. mounted it with foam tape and added Stickles to the flowers. I am also linking this card up with the Snippets Playground  - use a snippet Less is More - Flowers - there is 4 on my card, although the bird somewhat dominates... Simon Says Wednesday challenge - die cuts Time out chall...

Stencil Class Day 3 and Merry Mondays

Today is all about using embossing paste. I don't buy any - already enough stuff in my craft room... I make my own. Its super easy, feels soft and velvety when dry and it holds up well. It also dries really fast. For now I only have time to show you one card, but perhaps later today I'll show you more... The stencil is by TCW called Mini Branches. The recipe for the embossing paste you can find HERE . Just keep in mind - depending on the humidity the amount of water varies, but can be easily adjusted. The bird is Memory Box - perched Reed Bird. The little birds are by Impression Obsession. The sentiment is Hero Arts. Challenges: Merry Monday  -  Red, Vanilla, Kraft and  Chocolate with Ribbon   CHNC - Trees CHNC extra - anything Christmas Snippets Playground - use a snippet

RIC#44

Not much time any more for the RIC - I missed the last couple of challenges - too busy with other stuff.....and this is going to be quick - I had back to school night today and its late..... I used peach colored vellum for my card. The stamp is from Impression Obsession, the die is Memory Box - perched Reed Bird, the sentiment is from Fresh Squeezed Stamps - I won that recently -yeahh and finally go to use it. I heat embossed it. Added a ribbon Here is a close-up: The eye is a tiny enamel dot. I really like it - it came out just as I wanted and envisioned it. I am also linking this card with Simon Says - Anything goes and  Seize the Birthday Have a good night and thanks for stepping by!

Inkspirational Challenge #34

I looked at this inspiration photo from Inkspirational several times - but tonight the inspiration struck!  And that's what happened: A modern twist on it........ I used to die cut circles and sponged around them. The "LOVE" letters are Papertrey and the bird is Memory Box. I used the same ink to color the bird - any one of my grey papers did not fit. I put a small enamel dot as eye and I used some sparklers from Stampendous for the little bling. Oh yeah, the red strips are just done with markers.  --X-- And now its late - I wish you all a good night and thank you so much for visiting my blog and leaving all those beautiful comments - I LOVE them so much!

10 minute craft dash combined with CAS(E) this sketch

Again I combined two challenges - the 10 minute craft dash and CAS(E) this sketch : Here are the a"requirements":                 And here is my card: I used a punch for the circle, the bird is from Memory Box - perched Reed Bird,. I embossed the blue paper with the Papertrey Woodgrain embossing plate. The sentiment is an ancient Heidi Grace stamp. Little enamel dots for the eyes..... Thankfully we don't have to add up the time it takes to think about what we do, to get all the supplies and to clean up afterwards.... just making the card took 9 minutes and 13 seconds. I wish you all a beautiful and relaxing weekend. Not sure how much relaxing I'll get to do... we have our local library sale, which I love to go to, the Hero Arts scramble is on flickr today and my in-laws are coming over  tomorrow - that means cooking and cleaning.....

Vermont, a Card and 2 New Members!

I can say HELLO to two new members! Ryn Tanaka  -  the creator of many beautiful stamps the most famous of which is the waterdroplet stamp, that I have shown on this blog several times... and Claire  - who is with me part of the Simply Create Too design team and creates beautiful shabby chic cards. Here are my welcome pictures for you - the photo above is a collage made from glass blowers molds and the picutre below is taken in Quechee, VT. The building on the side is the famous Simon Pierce glass blowing workshop, powered by the Ottauquechee River. The molds are exhibited inside.  I really enjoyed Vermont and I made a Thank You card for my friend with whom I drove up there. On our last day we did a short hike and walked by some birch trees. I took some of the bark with me - ironed it at home and made this card from it. she noticed that it almost has the shape of Vermont - put sideways.  The bird and branches are ...

Make It Monday #114: Blown Ink

I just had time to watch the Make it Monday video at Nichole Heady's blog . Dawn McVey shares a technique that I remember from my childhood when we had fountain pens and blew the ink around on paper.  I guess good things never die...  I experimented a bit. My regular card stock that I use did not really work well - it just soaked up the ink. I took some glossy paper then - nothing fancy, just some advertisement that had a white back, dripped a drop of ink on it and blew with a straw. On glossy paper you can get real detail and it looks quite cool, I think. The sentiment is from one of my favorite Papertrey sets called Happy Trails, the bird I die cut from a paint chip - its from Memory Box, called perched Reed Bird. I gave it a little enamel eye and beak.

CASology - Orange

Just putting in a card for the CASology week #18 challenge ( http://casology.blogspot.com ) - the theme is ORANGE. Happens to be my favorite color. Unfortunately I had little time to come up with something, but I like what I did: The sentiment is Studio112, bird die cut and pearls - Memory Box. The background paper is from me&my BIG ideas
