Inkspirational #48

I saw this inspiration picture at Inkspirational , put it mentally on my to do list of challenges, promptly forgot about it until.....  recently when I rummaged through my papers I found this gorgeous patterned paper from DCWV and thought it would be perfect for this..... But how to make it into a card?.....I finally checked the linky list for the expiration and guess what - another last minute project.... So quick thinking was required...... I die cut the butterflies from gold foil and gold embossed the sentiment.  I put the sentiment on an additional strip of PP and used foam tape to give it some dimension. The butterflies are also adhered with foam tape. Its not really my style, but I really like it! I like how the sentiment plays into the dream of the picture and the butterflies go along with the gorgeous bird. Even the colors kind of match up.  I am also linking this card up with the CHNC Patterned Paper challenge and with Shopping our S...

Stencil Class Day 3 and Merry Mondays

Today is all about using embossing paste. I don't buy any - already enough stuff in my craft room... I make my own. Its super easy, feels soft and velvety when dry and it holds up well. It also dries really fast. For now I only have time to show you one card, but perhaps later today I'll show you more... The stencil is by TCW called Mini Branches. The recipe for the embossing paste you can find HERE . Just keep in mind - depending on the humidity the amount of water varies, but can be easily adjusted. The bird is Memory Box - perched Reed Bird. The little birds are by Impression Obsession. The sentiment is Hero Arts. Several CHNC challenges and some cards I got

Over at the Crafty Hazelnut Christmas challenge the theme is upcycle, repurpose or use a freebie. I am a big recycler, so this is for me! I have this really pretty wrapping paper, that I could not trow out - so perfect to use for a card. Its a tad wrinkled, but what the heck its recycled!  I added the Mod tree from Simon Says - die cut from an old throw away card - you know those free cards they send you if you give money to a good cause - so another upcycle right here.... The star is also Simon Says, left over from a previous Christmas card. I colored some paper candi with Copicsfor the corners. The sentiment is Inkadinkadoo. I heat embossed it - was afraid it would not dry well, since the paper is the almost glossy type. Added sequins - somehow they end up on every other card I make nowadays....I am not toatlly happy wiht this card - somehow it does not quite come together, but that does not stop me from linking it up. Things don't always have to be p...

TAWS #44 and some more Christmas cards

I am back into the swing of things with another card I made yesterday for the TAWS challenge . I used the freebies that are available on the TAWS website. Here is the inspiration photo: And that's my card: You gotta love this pink Christmas tree! Anyhow I loved it so much - I put three of them on my card, colored with Copics. If you mag up the inspiration photo you'll see that there is a white painted brick wall, which I mimicked with the embossing folder - Lifestyle Crafts. The ornaments and two of the trees are elevated with foam dots and I used Twine from the Twinery. I am also linking this card with the CHNC challenge  extra- anything Christmas and the regular CHNC challenge   --X-- I also want to share with you some more Christmas cards my blogging friends surprised me with: This lovely card is from Diane - she is from Alabama - such a cool card! she digitally creates all her images - amazing! House of Cards and Paper Players

House of Cards is hosting a blog hop and is having a DT call- I am glad I found out about this  - just in time.......I have played in their challenges in the past, but lately I did not get a chance.....but lately I have not gotten to do much card making anyhow. Perhaps after the Holidays are over I'll manage to have more time in my craft room. One can always hope..... So here is the inspiration picture - very elegant and festive - it calls out for a Christmas card! And here it is: I took several pictures in an attempt to capture the glitter and shine of this card. The square under the wreath is glimmer paper and the wreath is die cut with two different types of glitter paper. I added some gems and a pearl.  I like it very much - I hope you do, too! And as luck will have it my card also fits the Paper Players theme : And, because I used some Snippets its going into the Snippets Playground I am also linking this card wit...

Little Tangles #26

So little time before the Holidays - I have barely managed to get up to my card room this month. Today I sneaked in for a few minutes to make a card for the Little Tangles challenge :  I used  a bauble from the set ca lled  Merry and Bright and repeatedly stamped it onto white card stock with some masking.  I used Delicata ink for the gold - this ink is just amazing. It is rich and shimmery - you can even see it on the photo. In real like it looks absolutely gorgeous! I stamped the sentiment over the gold with Versafine ink. My all time favorite black ink. All stamps are from the same set.  I am also linking this card with the  CHNC challenge  - anything Christmas Keep crafting and thanks for your visit.

Simply Create Too #51

There is a new challenge starting at the Simply Create Too challenge blog - the theme is SNOW or USE ONLY WHITE. You have two weeks to play in it! I made my own embossing paste for this card - the recipe you can find    HERE . It costs  literally  nothing and its quick and easy. When I first made it I was worried, that it would flake off, but that has not happenend.  It stayed silky smooth and pliable.   I took one of my TCW stencils, took a PTI star die and masked the star of the stencil with washi tape. I then smeared the embossing paste onto the stencil, which I had taped onto textured card stock and let it dry.  I die cut two stars using glitter paper, mounted them on dimensional tape and "hung" them on a silver string. The sentiment is from Mama Elephant - Merry Greetings. I am also entering this card into: The  Snippets Playground  CHNC challenge   - anything Christmas    Simon Says ...

Welcome to 2 new Members and a White Card

I have been incredibly busy the last few days and it looks like its going to be like that for the next weeks.....But it has always been like that - as soon as thanksgiving rolls around all sorts of things pop up and eat up my time. Do you feel the same way? But tonight I took some time - I needed to get my mind off stuff and made a card. But before we get there I have more important business to take care of. i have two more new members to welcome to my blog: Linda (no blog I'm afraid) and   Shirely . Shirley is a master of CAS cards, go pay her a visit - you won't be disappointed! I have a welcome picture for you Ladies: The sculpture is by  Anna Chromy  and is titled Olympic Spirit. It stands outside the Archaeological Museum in Athens. I like it a lot - so dynamic! And now the card, of course. I made this for Inkspirational  - White is the theme. I made another batch of embossing paste - the recipe you can find HERE . ...

CAS Colours and Sketches #51

I have literally no time right now, but I just found out that I was one of the top three at the last CAS Colours and Sketches challenge and I had to play - a quick card it was.... I modified the sketch a bit, but not much. The stamps I used are from a Fiskars set called Winter Wonderland. The sentiment is Mama Elephant Merry Greetings. Used some twine. The frame around the periphery I drew with a Copic marker. Since I used a snippet this card will also go into the  Snippets Playground ! I will also enter this into the CHNC challenge extra for November Tomorrow I'll have hopefully a bit more time - I have new members to say hello to - I have not forgotten you....so happy you joined, but you will get an "official" greeting, I promise!

Freshly Made Sketches #111

Hi, I just really liked this sketch from Freshly Made Sketches  - so perfect and the ornament on it just calls out for a Christmas card. This sketch may go into my favorites file - to be used over and over again.... But for now it is the holiday theme. I used my favorite Sizzix Embossing Folder. The snowflake is from Memory Box, but it gave me grief again. It would not cut through the glitter paper, despite all the tricks I know now - extra shimming, wax paper, running it through the Big shot in different positions and multiple times.....I just gave up and pretended I wanted all those little pieces still in there, after I fuzzy cut a fair amount of the outside.... I colored some of those with Copics - looks quite nice after all....The sentiment is Mama Elephant Merry Greetings So hard to photograph the glitz - the closeup shows it best - it looks really pretty! I am also linking this card with the CHNC challenge - Anything Christmas and...

A bit of twine, to finish it.  Just a quick post today, gotta do some other stuff now... I used some of my washi tape, a bauble from the set ca lled  Merry and Bright, which I heat embossed in red and then added bright blue Stickles. The sentiment is from the same set. And of course some sequins for sparkle! Paper Smooches

I am really in the mood for making Christmas cards this year and what is better than this super fun Paper Smooches set called Freezy Fellas? I fuzzy cut the snowmen. The frame I made with paper from Martha Stewart and the little stars are from Impression Obsession - with some Stickles.  The inside of the frame I sponged. The sentiment is also Paper Smooches - Christmas sampler. Her is the sketch for the Paper Smooches challenge : I will also link up this card with the  CHNC challenge  , the  Christmas card challenges  and  the  Snippets Playground  - the snowmen are made from snippets. And here I am going over to the Snippets playground to get the link-up and what do I see??? I won the last snippets give away!! Hurrah!!
