A New Apron and a Recipe (no card)

Hi Everyone,   a little while ago my talented blogging friend Kim Heggins from Cupcakes, Cards and Kim  made two gorgeous aprons - yes she sewed them HERSELF!!! and raffeled off one - and guess what - I was the lucky winner, hurrah!!!! A few days later this lovely packet arrived at my doorsteps - she even made an adorable tag! Kim you are so sweet! And here is her wonderful apron: I am just pretend cooking on my deck, taking pics with the self timer - my kitchen is kind of dark and pictures taken with flash don't look too good...And what a lovely apron it is - in my favorite colors - I think Kim made that apron with me in mind..... just kidding... THANK YOU KIM!  You are the sweetest person in all of blog land!!!! So to honor this occasion I thought I'll share one of my favorite recipes with you. Its gluten, soy and dairy free (my husband can't eat any of those things) and its not so easy to find tasty recipes without those tasty in...

Birthday card and Birthday Cake

One layer Wednesday is hosted by the lovely Karen this week and the theme is silhouettes. I have so many silhouette stamps in my stash, I really should use them....but I just got my order from Lavinia - stamps - do you know them? They are fabulous! I have seen them a while ago hopping around on the internet and was dying to have some. They are British and unfortunately the British pound is much stronger than the dollar.....But I finally gave in - ordered a whole bunch of them and I am going to surprise my sister with some - its her birthday - by the time I post this she has gotten her present :) I sponged with various inks after I masked off the frame and used Versafine ink for the stamps. those stamps are so detailed, I thought this would be best to use. As you see I did some generational stamping.  The sentiment is Papertrey - Sketched Shapes. Doesn't it look like its made for those stamps? I am also playing with this card in Seize the Birthday - Anythi...

Time to celebrate!

I have several reasons to celebrate! My daughter turned 21! And I have 2 new members to welcome to my little blog Amy V. and Jenny  I hope you continue to like what you find here. And today you can celebrate with me. I don't have a piece of artwork for you as I showed in the past, but I will share our most loved cake recipe with you - its at the end of this post.....something to look forward to... --X-- After a couple of turbulent teenage years our daughter became a beautiful responsible young women,  who is finding her way in life. Recently she took a break from college and is doing an internship, which she absolutely loves. That is her birthday card. We got her a GPS - she guessed it after she looked at her card.  The labyrinth is downloaded from the Internet. All stamps are Papertrey as are the number dies. The arrow is Lifestyle crafts. We celebrated her birthday with a lovely dinner and cake. Here is a recent p...

Snow, New Members and Some Cards, of course....

The weather forecast was right - we got a lot of snow overnight and I can feel  my muscles after all the shoveling I did - what a great workout! I actually like shoveling snow - I know its weird. and this is how it looked like this morning: A winter wonder land! Isn't it gorgeous? Except for the all of a sudden low dangling electrical wires.... And now a welcome for my new members: Kim Anja  (hauiline) Kelly  Mary J Go and checkout their blogs - they are fabulous!  As my welcome gift to you - I made a cake, which I would love to share with you, but since that is impossible I'll share the recipe. I made this cake quite often - everybody in my family loves it, even my husband who gets very picky, when it comes to sweet things. And the best thing about this cake is that it gets better as it gets older, usually its the other way around. So in case you'll give it a try, bake it at least one day beforehan...

RIC#27 and some cookies

There are already so many gorgeous cards at the RIC#27 ......  Here is my take on it - quickly, before Linky closes. I used the Memory Box Bare Oak stamp for this card. The little blue leaves I found in my ancient Hero Arts Birds Branch alphabet set. I colored the leaves with my Marvy Markers, since I don't have such a vibrant blue ink pad. The sentiment is Papertrey (Mixed Messages)  --x-- Every once in a while I make those delicious breakfast cookies - they are pretty big and one of them is enough for breakfast, which I bring to work and have it with a cup of coffee. My hubby devours them for dessert after dinner - so they really do not last very long.  And that's how you make them: Breakfast Cookies 1 cup whole wheat flour 1 cup all-purpose flour     1 t baking soda ¼ t coarse salt 2 sticks butter – room temperature (I use about 2 T less) 1 ½ c...
