Dream Valley Challenge #82 and Cure for the Monday Blues

Its time for a new challenge at  Dream Valley Challenge  - the theme is "things with wings" That's easy - anything from Mosquitoes to fairies is welcome....You have two week to link up with us - I hope to see you there!  I took my inspiration from  Addicted to Stamps and More I immediately fell in love with this pretty picture when I saw it and wanted to recreate it. I sponged the pink square, making myself a stencil with a piece of scrap paper and a punch. I also used the negative die cut from the branch to sponge on the branch. The flowers I punched using the scrap paper stencil sides, which had already ink on them......Did some sponging on the bird. mounted it with foam tape and added Stickles to the flowers. I am also linking this card up with the Snippets Playground  - use a snippet Less is More - Flowers - there is 4 on my card, although the bird somewhat dominates... House of Cards February Challenge

Hi, Everybody!   It's time for another new challenge at House of Cards ! We have a fabulous inspiration picture and we cannot wait to see what you create with it! For the next two weeks we're asking for  CAS CARDS AND/OR CLASSICALLY DESIGNED CARDS PLUS WE'D LIKE YOU TO BE INSPIRED BY EITHER THE COLORS OR THE PHOTO OR BOTH~ Isn't this picture gorgeous - I am sure it will inspire you as well! Here is what I came up with: I used the Memory Box Woodland Branch die, which I doulbled up to make it a bit more substantial.  The blossoms I made with the Starburst punch from McGill., sponged them and added some Stickles. The sentimant is Papertrey Think Big Favorites. I took some Tim Holtz distress stains and added a bit extra color. I hope you like it and play with us at House of Cards !

Birthday card and Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there!

One of my former German Au Pairs' son is celebrating his fourth birthday! She took care of my daughter when she was four and now she has 3 children of her own - the last two are twins. We have been staying in contact ever since she was with us, so naturally her son is getting a card! Except for the sentiment, which is from Papertrey I used all German stamps. The mouse and the elephant are from a famous TV show and the middle one is from probably the most well known German children's book author named Janosch. His books have been translated into English and some are available in the US. I always was and still am a big fan of his drawings.  For the windows I used the Papertrey Take Tree die, the balloon is a Marvy punch. I colored the stamps after I fuzzy cut them with pencils, the eyes are done with white enamel. And if you want to know more about THE MOUSE you can watch this short video clip: Have FUN! ...

Black tie Friday

It's Yellow and Black this week at Black Tie Friday ! I pretty much like any color with black - It always makes the colors  pop! And colors I like! Anybody who has come to my blog knows that..... So here is my take on it:  I made this flower from six 1 inch circles and assembled them to this rosette. I punched a 2 inch circle into the front of the card and lined up the flower rosette on the inside of the card so that it is centered. I had this chevron strip (Papertrey Zig Zag die) left over from the fusion card - I never throw anything out - you should see my stash of paper scraps - it keeps growing and growing.....And lastly I put a ready made flower into the center of the circle flower.   By the way - I did not come up with the circle flower idea - I learned about it last year in the Clean and Simple online class I took. There is no sentiment here - I did not think it needed one.

Muse #10

In good old fashion - at the last minute I an playing with this weeks Muse challenge   - Ardyth made the inspiration card. I am a big admirer of her style. Here is her happy birthday card: And that is my interpretation of it: I went with the circles and the colors, but just punched them out of colored card stock. The sentiment I underlyed with black - in true Ardyth style...... I also linked this up with  the  CAS Colours and  Sketches challenge  #18.

Pinspired #3 and Hello to 3 more new members!

I have three new members, which I want to welcome to my blog today! Heute habe ich gleich drei neue Mitglieder ("Verfolger"), die ich recht herzlich auf meinem Blog begruessen moechte! Corinna Sigi Mel They are all from Germany - my home country and all of them have fantastic blogs, which I have linked. I want to welcome you with this piece of art, that I saw recently in the Newark Museum in New Jersey. It is from the African artist El Anatsui , which creates these stunning pieces out of scrap metal, such as liquor bottle caps. I linked a slide show of some of his works from the New York Times to his name and from there you can get the New York Times article, if you are interested to read about him.

Hearts Window Card

I made this card for a Valentine's Day card exchange at the flickr LOVE card group . I wanted to make something special and different and that is what I came up with: The sentiment is Hero Arts Hugs N Hearts. I cut the window with a Lifestyle crafts die and used various punches for the hearts. Each heart is doubles up with the string in between. It was a little tedious to make - next time it would go faster, that is always the case for the second attempt. But I was really happy with the result - it actually looks like I envisioned it (that is not always the case with my ideas...) I hope the recipient of this card does not mind me submitting it for the Moxie Fab window card challenge I just saw over at Simon Says is "Anything goes"   - that is my kind of a challenge - into this challenge this card will go....

CAS-ual Fridays and CASE-this-sketch with Hearts

I could not resist and made more cards for both those challenges. The   CAS-ual Fridays  challenge is "long and short". The heart is Recollections, the sentiment is craftsmart, the little hearts are made with a Fiskars corner stamp and the pink strip is made with two different pink inks applied directly to the paper. --X-- CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #11   has again a  fabulous  layout: The stripes on the left I made with my scoring board, the hearts are made with a Fiskars punch and the sentiment is Papertrey ( Mixed Messages). I mounted it on a red background card from Memory Box. And I put a generous layer of glossy accents on the red heart.

Black/White + Splash of Color

Ahhh, the guys in my house left me for the weekend (they are having some serious FUN together), my daughter will be with her boyfriend and I will have almost an entire weekend for myself. Guess what I will do??? But before I want to say "Hello and Welcome" to my latest members on my blog  Viera , Guylaine and Rosi Lorraine and Kanan Susan and Joy Rosi (Daen'Ys)  did that when I joined her blog and I found that just so very nice. I get so excited when somebody new joins my blog, so I wanted to say thank you for making my day brighter. I hope you visit often and like what you see. See Rosi, I am an old copy cat, but that was such a nice thing you did! So this card is for all of you (including my slightly "older" members) : Of course I also will link it to the  Simon Says Stamp Challenge   Black/White + Splash of Color. I had so much fun for and more ideas for essentially the same challenge by Less is M...

Black - White and Chalkboard

This card I made for the "Less is More" Challenge #101 . the theme is  BLACK  and  WHITE  with a  touch  or a  splash , a  hint  or  suggestion , a  dab  or a   patch  of  a  c o l o u r  of your choice! I used EK success punches and a Inkadinkadoo sentiment, which I embossed in white. The pearls I colored with a Sharpie marker, since I did not have them in orange - they are actually orange, not red. The second card is made by my sister. Since she does not have her own blog I thought I upload it for her here. She really liked the chalkboard technique from Papertrey - and here is her fantastic card, just right for the Make it Monday challenge #98: The stamps are from Papertrey "Harvest Berries", the frame she made outlining a spellbinders die. Not sure where the butterfly came from....

A Year in Review

I am an old copy cat.....I saw a lot of people going through their card creations of 2012 and though that is such a neat idea! My blog only exists since October, but I certainly have cards from every month. And here are my favorites from 2012: January: February: March: April: May:    June: July:   August:   September:   October: November:   December:   As you can see, I could not decide on single cards for each month, so I choose two. Oh well... Lots of pictures, I know. Nonetheless, I hope you enjoyed them. But regardless - I wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR and lots of crafting fun for 2013!!!!
