Guest Designing at Challenge Up Your Life #65

Hi Everyone, this is my last guest designing post for Challenge up your Life . It was so much fun to be part of this! Thank you CYUL! This challenge has the cue word "FOREST" and that is what I came up with: I used an old Hero Arts stamp (K5797)  - already shows a forest, so that was the easy part. It is a wooden stamp, so the first thing I did was detach it from its wood block and put it in my Misti. I stamped the trees in black. I then masked the moon and shifted the paper just a tad to the right and stamped again with Versafine. Added Clear embossing powder and treated it with my heat gun. with the mask in place I sponged the top part (masked off the sides). You can see all this a bit better in the close-up picture. You basically get a white outline to the trees, which gives it a lot of dimension. I also made sure the white line is to the left of the trees, as my moon is on the left and would illuminate that side more. Added the sentiment (Neat ...

4 Cats

Hi Everyone, I needed a card for a little boy, so I scoured blog land for help.... and I found it! It came in the form of Paper Smooches , Just add Ink and Challenge up your life .... So here is the result: I used four colors - the requirement for Paper Smooches. Of course those funky cats are by Paper Smooches - they are my favorite cats from them, I have used them several times by now. I got them sun glasses - the snow is so bright here right now... (you can see some pictures HERE ) The layout is from Just add Ink  and the colors are from Challenge up your life         Also linking up with: The Male Room - Little Boys Simon Says Wednesday challenge - create with critters Happy Stamping!

Non Christmas card with Christmas stamps

Hi Everyone, here is a challenge just to my liking - and I have thought about this in the past, wishing somebody would offer that as a challenge - make a non Christmas card with Christmas stamps - and here it is - put on by Make the  Day Special Stamp Store ! Hurrah! I used this ancient Hero Arts set - love that one and picked that skinny bare Christmas tree. Stamped a half circle at the top of my card with Versamark and heat embossed it in white. I then masked the wedges and sponged them with distress inks in rainbow colors.  The sentiment is from the set  OWH Year Round sentiments . Also  heat embossed it in white. I die cut the card stock using the stitched square die by Simon Says Stamps, glued it onto fun foam and mounted it onto a white card base. Added the silver embroidery thread and tiny sequins.  So how do you like that challenge theme? You can also play in this month A2z Scarpbooking Store Challenge - its CAS as a the...

Waterdrops with Tutorial

Hi Everyone, my blogging friend Coni from Which Craft? recently asked me how I do those water droplets by Ryn and asked me for a tutorial. So Coni, this is for you: I made the background with Brushos - it was an experiment - I do think distress inks would be the best, but I was too lazy for sponging..... You have to use watercolor paper. Stamped the droplets with Memento Tuxedo black ink. That hold up better to water than Versafine, which I generally use I then take a brush, brush the drop with water and immediately lift off color from the wet drop with a tissue.  As I said - distress inks work better than Brushos.....but I still think you can see a sublte difference when you compare the first picture with this one: The real effect you achieve with adding white highlights - my favorite pen is a white Sharpie The whole process takes some time, but it is worth it!
