Katzelkraft - Smile when it's Raining

Hi Everyone, I am back with my weekly Katzelkraft post. I got inspired by Sandy Allnock for my card design.  I stamped the umbrella first. I masked off the space under the umbrella and sponged around it with distress oxide inks. I stamped the  rain (Impression Obsession) twice - once with and once without the mask. I colored the meerkats and fuzzy cut them. Sponged the masked off area and directly applied inks to the bottom to create some ground. Added some water splatters. Added the meerkats. Trimmed off the card and mounted it on a white card base. The stamps I used are from the following sets: Les Suricates - KTZ 216,  Smile when its Raining  - Solo158  (FRANCE) Meerkats - KTZ216,  Smile when its Raining  - Solo158   (USA) Hope you liked this - I'll be back next Wednesday with more Katzelkraft inspiration. In the meantime I wish you a Happy New Year and all the best for 2021! If you feel the urge to buy any Katzelkr...

Paper Players #172

Leaves is the theme this week at the Paper Players and I was in the mood for a sympathy card - hmmmm, that does not sound to good, right? Well, I recovered, after making this card... I got this beautiful Stampin' up set on ebay and had to use it right away. I heat embossed the leaves in white and then I also stamped them in grey "behind". Sponged around the edges and mounted it onto white card stock. The sentiment is Impression Obsession. The little leaf I punched from a separate larger leaf. I like it - very serene...

Pumpkins and Welcome to New Members

This time I can welcome 3 new members to my blog! Monika Gaby  - Erzibueglechen Andrea (no blog) I am happy you joined my blog! Hopefully you will stay and like what I create in the future! Monika and Gaby have beautiful blogs - go and visit them, if you have time - there is lots of ideas to find!! I have 2 welcome pictures for you. I thought they fit the season. The sculpture is called "Autumn". It is by Philip Haas and right now on exhibit at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx. He  is an American artist,   was  born 1954 and he also is a screenwriter and filmmaker. He made 4 sculptures, called the four seasons - they are all there and quite impressive to look at!                                                     He took the idea from Giuseppe Archimboldo ( 1526-1593)  and created huge sculptures, wherea...

RIC#44

Not much time any more for the RIC - I missed the last couple of challenges - too busy with other stuff.....and this is going to be quick - I had back to school night today and its late..... I used peach colored vellum for my card. The stamp is from Impression Obsession, the die is Memory Box - perched Reed Bird, the sentiment is from Fresh Squeezed Stamps - I won that recently -yeahh and finally go to use it. I heat embossed it. Added a ribbon Here is a close-up: The eye is a tiny enamel dot. I really like it - it came out just as I wanted and envisioned it. I am also linking this card with Simon Says - Anything goes and  Seize the Birthday Have a good night and thanks for stepping by!

RIC #42 and a sweet surprise

I have not played in the Runway Inspired challenge for a while - too many challenges out there. but today I got an inspiration from Eileen - many of you probably know her. She has an amazing blog. When I saw her blog entry today I thought to CASE her idea and use it for the RIC - and thank fully there were still a couple of hours left to make this card: I used alcohol inks on acetate. The die cut is from Simon Says and the sentiment is from Impression Obsession. The butterflies are made with a Martha Stewart punch. It was a little tricky to make the butterflies. The acetate I used for the card was too thick and the punch did not work I used thin acetate for my next try, but it punched it badly. Finally I used thin acetate and a layer of paper on top and that did the trick. On the card the colored acetate side is facing the white card stock, so the surface is clean and shiny. The white frame I just cut out of card stock with my paper trimmer. I am also linking this...

Merry Monday #71, Stamp-a faire and ATCAS

This is going to be super quick - here is the inspiration sketch from Merry Monday and here is my card:                                                                      I am also linking this up with Stamp-a-faire over at Papertrey  with Addicted to CAS  challenge #20 - Holidays and KIS #21 Weihnachten im August Materials:  Die from Papertrey and Simon Says, sentiment from Impression Obsession, Fiskars impression plate, Scor Tape and of course glitter! I hope you like it. I am off now into the city to do some more walking - another gorgeous day today!

For Your Inspiration #46

You gotta love this inspiration picture from the For Your Inspiration challenge!  I love Aspen. Last May I was lucky to be in New Mexico where they have some really large aspen forests. Such beautiful trees! So here is my take on the challenge. I saw different colors converging in the center. I don't have any aspen trees as stamps, but the bamboo stamp from Poppy stamps did the job... I sponged the background. The sentiment is from Impression Obsession. --X-- And here are two of my Aspen pictures: Aren't those trees gorgeous?

OLW again!

I liked the OWL so much I made some more cards.... I sponged the bac kground, used the  Hero Arts Dandelion Frame, which I masked. The sentiment is from Papertrey - Happy Trails the card above, the card below is from Impression Obsession.  It does not really show, but I put some Stickles on the dandelions - looks really pretty!  I did get inspired by a card made by  Janet  a.k.a Swanlady- her card is so beautiful!

Hero Arts Scramble on Flickr

Yesterday evening was another scramble at the Hero Arts Flickr group . I enjoy being part of that and to my big dismay I have missed the last two. For the people who are not familiar with this, the rules are:  you have 90 minutes to create a card,  you have to use at least one Hero Arts stamp or digi and  you have to upload your creation within those 90 minutes onto the flickr website.  Very straightforward. Give it a try next time! Since 90 minutes is not that long I choose to go with watercolors - very forgiving technique....I stamped distress inks onto an acrylic bloc, misted it with water and pressed it onto watercolor paper. I then overstamped it with various plant stamps - all Hero arts. The second card I first clear embossed the poison ivy plant (it looks like one) before I did the other steps and doodled around the edges in the end. The sentiment is from an Impression Obsession set. I hope you like it. Ah, I just...

CAS-ual Fridays and Just Us Girls

Due to time constraints I am combining two challenges.... .Just Us Girls  has "Ombre" as a theme and it's "all that glitters" at CAS-ual Fridays . So the dragonfly glitters over an ombre background. It kind of hard to photograph the glitter.  A while ago I saw on the Stampendous website the Kaleidoscope embossing powder  - that is really cool! It changes color depending on how long you heat it starting at blue to green, to golden brown. I only heated it at its blue and green stage, going with my background colors. I love the effect. I found another cool challenge to submit this card to: Catered Crop - the theme is glitter, too. How perfect is that? Materials: Dragonfly  - Stamping Ground, Gradation background by Impression Obsession, sentiment Papertrey Happy Trails, Kaleidoscope embossing powder by Stampendous

Ombre at Moxie Fab

I made this card a while ago to send to my Blogging friend Sylvie to thank her for the give-away I won on her blog. I also had the Moxie Fab challenge in mind (forgive me, Sylvie), when I made this card. But the fact that the package came from Gibraltar and me being away in Texas delayed the mailing of this card and we are almost at the end of this challenge.... Sylvie - don't look...... I used the Impression Obsession background stamp - Gradation, sponged it with various greens. The sentiment is the Memory Box thanks die, the butterflies are a Tim Holtz die.

Washi Tape and Hanukkah

Here is my entry for the second KIS challenge  - this time it is Washi tape. I putzed around with it two days ago, but was not happy with the result. You can find it under this entry . This card I like so much better, so in the challenge it goes. I saw a similar card in the past which inspired me to make this - I wish I'd remember who did it, to give credit, but I don't.  The splatters I did with a wet paintbrush and distress inks and just flicked them onto the paper. Somehow it really stains your fingers..... The sentiment and flourish is from Hero Arts, the little orange splatter in the left bottom corner is from Papertrey. I put glossy accents on it, but it does not show on the photo. In the afternoon I surprisingly had more time and played around with a Hanukkah card. First I though it does not need a sentiment, but then I changed my mind. The candles are just colored paper. The flame I made from a left over piece of rubber and the small circles are...
