CAS Mix Up Reminder

Hi Everyone, I have been asked to be guest designer at the  CAS Mix-Up challenge . You may have seen my first card HERE . And now you'll see my reminder card for this fabulous challenge. The DT supplies ample information about the topic and one can learn so much!  This month topic is all about embossing folders. If you are like me, you have a huge supply of them - but rarely used.... I am so glad I had an excuse to put at least one of them in action! For this card I used a Cuttlebug embossing folder and smeared it with Creative Expressions metallic gliding polish. I die cut the flower using a Penny black die and gold shimmer paper. The little sentiment is an ancient one from Papertrey. I also added a few gold gems. So glad I found an excuse for my embossing folder. I should use them more frequently. If you feel the same way - just play along! Here is a compilation of all the Embossing Folder Tutorials: Embossing Folder Stamping ...

Guest Designing for CAS Mix Up

Hi Everyone, I am totally delighted to have been asked to be guest designer at the CAS Mix-Up challenge !  Of course I said YES! It is such a cool challenge. The DT supplies ample information about the topic and ones can learn so much! This month topic is quite enticing - it is all about embossing folders. If you are like me, you have a huge supply of them - but rarely used.... I am so glad I had an excuse to put at least one of them in action! The folder I used here is a  Cuttlebug embossing folder. I sprinkled Bushos on it and spritzed with water. I then did some embossing folder stamping. I dicut a square window into my card base using a QuicKutz square die. Added the pig (unknown company). The wonky birthday stamp is by So Suzy Stamps. I also added googly eyes to the pig, some white gel pen accents and a little dab of Stickles to the center of the flower. I  just love how this embossing folder background turned out! Go and pull out your emb...

Stampotique Favorite Holiday Challenge

Hi Everyone,  at Stampotique we are in the middle of our  new challenge  starting - the theme is " Favorite Holiday ".  Well, mine is Christmas - at least when it comes to card making! I used an embossing folder for the snowflakes and directly smeared ink on the paper, which left the snowflake indentation white. Added the trees  - of course did some masking. I colored them with Inktense. I stamped the gnomes , colored them and fussy cut them. Added them and stamped the sentiment . Stampotique Challenges run every TWO weeks...... Please remember you can use any stamps for our challenge and you are allowed to have 2 entries per challenge. From all the current months entries we will draw 2 random winners who will each win a 30.00 gift certificate on the first week of the following month. Have fun with  Hope to see you at  the  challenge ! Linking up with:

Chill with So Suzy

Hi Everyone, So Suzy is going on a Christmas break and this is the last post for this So Suzy year.  My So Suzy supplies: Snowman Joy,   Chill I also used an embossing folder and a die. I first die cut the circle and stamped the snowman on it. Colored it with Stabilo markers - they are water soluble and they reactivate with water. I added distress Stickles at the bottom.  I embossed the white card stock and then ran it through my Big Shot to cut it.... You better do that the other way around, 'cause the Big Shot flattens the embossing....But I simply lined it up with the folder and embossed it again.    You should also stamp the sentiment first and not last....That is my usual haphazard way of making cards. But in the end, it usually works out somehow.... .....as you can see. I used foam tape to attach the circle. Now go and chill, before all Holiday madness starts! Happy Stamping! Lin...

Homework and Make it Monday

I managed to make one of my "homework cards" from the CAS class - I was intrigued by those cute tiles that Julie Ebersole tought us the how to on day 1! Made it into a baby card: Used an ancient Sizzix die and a cuttlebug embossing folder. Some tissue paper, silver string and sequins. Its easy but the effect is great! I love it! I am also linking this card with the Snippets Playground - use a snippet (the tile paper) and with Happy Little Stampers - Embossing ( the tile is clear embossed) But I also love the effect you can achieve when layering cover plate die cuts, as Dawn McVey teaches us in this weeks Make it Monday. Looks cool, don't you think? Both the cover plate and sentiment are Papertrey. Added enamel dots. I am also playing with this card in: IN{K}SPIRE_me , using different greens and grey.    Seize the Birthday  - anything goes I thought I share - finally we got some snow - this is a picture of my front yard! ...

I took this picture of her work (Evening dress with shawl)  in the Corning Museum of glass - we visited on my recent trip to upstate New York. I hope you like it. I f you are ever in that area - I can highly recommend that museum - we spent 5 hours there and did not see everything - just fantastic! I'll have to go back there one day... But now back to card making. I had to go up into my card room and make a few cards - car...

Retrosketches and Creative Friday and Welcome to 2 New Members

Good news - I have two more members on my blog - yeahh, its growing and that makes me happy! I want to welcome  Desire and  Wendy Nicola I am glad you found my blog Ladies and decided to join! I picked a welcome photos for you: It is a quilt by Ellen Anne Eddy , its called "Skinny Dipping". She is a quilt artist from Indiana. This beautiful quilt was exhibited recently in a small museum close to where I live. I took a lot of pictures there, but I choose this one, because it fits my card.....It almost looks like it inspired me to make the card (maybe unconsciously......), but I choose the picture after it was done.... So, that is my card - it was a painful process and took me a few days to arrive here - so atypical for me, usually I am quite fast.... So how did I do this one - I first stamped my favorite Ryn Tanaka  water droplet stamp with Staz-on on acetate. Then I ran the acetate through a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. Make sure the St...

CAS(E) this Sketch and Paper Smooches

The theme is "STRIPES" at Paper Smooche s and CAS(E) this Sketch has a cool sketch to play with, which I posted below.  I am totally in the mood for holiday cards now, so I pulled out the Freezy Fellas set from Paper Smooches. I fuzzy cut the snowmen. the striped background is made with a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and the sentiment is also Paper Smooches - Christmas sampler. A bit of twine, to finish it.  Just a quick post today, gotta do some other stuff now... I am also linking this card with the CHNC challenge - Anything Christmas CHNC challenge #150 - Outdoors and Simon Says Wednesday challenge - CAS

Fusion #17

I have not played in the Fusion challenge forever, but when I saw this picture and the sketch I had to....                                                                 I ended up making two cards, using the leftover scraps for the second card. I used the Make a Splash set from Technique Tuesday. the newspapaer background I stamped with the Hero Arts Friend definition stamp in grey. I used a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and the oval I cut with a Die-namics Die. I am also linking this card with the  Simon Says - Emboss it challenge  and with Night Shift stamping - Summer , because whale = ocean = summer fun - or do you think its too much of a stretch? For this card I used Hero Arts Delicate Blossoms , the sentiment is Inkadinkadoo Chelsea. Some Memory Box pearls and a wide ribbon. I am lin...

A Holiday Card for 4 Challenges

Cuttlebug Mania's challenge is anything goes with embossing, whereas Jingle Bells has "tic tac toe " this week. I went with the top row - snowman, glitter and embossing.  The stamps are from Rubber soul. I fuzzy cut the snowman and propped up the different layers with foam tape to make it 3-D. The nose is paper-pieced. The embossing folder is from Cuttlebug. I smeard some Stickles on top of the snowflakes to add the glitter. Addicted to CAS has a Holiday theme and I am submitting this card to that challenge as well. And Dynamic Duos has black and light aqua with optional embossing - I hope they can forgive me the orange nose..... Simon Says has MONOCHROMATIC as a theme ans yes, there is that orange nose , but one of their DT members also featured snowmen with orange noses, so I guess I'll get by.... Are you ready for more Canada pictures? The first seven pics are taken along the Icefield Parkway. We did a short hike to...
