Eyelet Birthday Card

Hi, Crafting Friends I needed a card for my daughters birthday, so what is better than combining a color challenge with something else? That something else is the eyelet challenge  over at Retro Rubber where my friend Susanne is GDT! Of course I had to play!!!!! I used the colors from this weeks  Color Throwdown . The numbers are dangling from gold threads- threaded through eyelets. The birthday die is Papertrey, as are the numbers. The happy is Paper Smooches - Sentiment sampler - my very first Paper Smooches set I bought several years ago.... We had one warm day today - 46 degrees, tomorrow night the predicted low is 1 degree - isn't that crazy??? Happy Stamping!

The Cutting Edge

There is a new challenge out there - I am sure you all know about it by now - its called The Cutting Edge , with Jackie Rockwell as the mastermind behind it! I wanted to play and I needed a card for my Dad's 95th birthday and since I had some time today I went to work on it.... You can see it a little bit, but I used some subtly textured paper for the card base (got this from my friend Anita from My Papercraft World ) and I use it sparingly, waiting for the right occasion. And clearly, the occasion could not be any better! I used my Papertrey RainbowStripes die and partially sponged it ini orange. The numbers are Papertrey too. The balloons are Mama Elephant. The plaid on them I stamped with Hero Arts Plaid Background stamp with Delicata ink - wanted to get the textured dots form the inspiration card in. And lastly the sentiment is by Hero Arts - Essential Messages I am also linking this card with Virginia's View - Die Cut and I am adding this card to th...

Birthday Cards for Twins

I needed two birthday cards for twins, that are coming up soon. They are getting two years old and I wanted to make something fun for them. Interactive cards I think are great for that.  I kept them CAS. The die cut number is Papertrey By the Numbers. The peeking little fox/teddy is from Mama Elephant No Peeking and the sentiment is from Hero Arts Big Candles. And some Washi tape. I punched a brad on top and strung some twine through on which I hung the number. It swings around as you can see below.  I am linking the card above with Dynamic Duos - Real Red and Island Indigo I am linking both cards with Seize the Birthday - Birthday - optional chevron CASual Fridays - over the edge - the numbers are swinging over the edge... and the Snippets Playground   - the numbers are made from snippets Simon Says Wednesday challenge  - anything goes with twine or string

Play Date Cafe combined with Make it Mondays and CAS-ual Fridays

Look at those colors - I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE those!  Oh, this is just totally up my alley! So this is what I did: I needed a birthday card. I love those colors - did I mention that before? And at Make it Monday the theme is embossed alphabet - I used a number - I guess you can always stretch those challenges a bit.... And how convenient is that - CAS-ual Fridays theme is Birthday Bash. I usually do not combine three challenges, but what the heck, why not... but those  Play Date cafe  colors may go into an second project..... I die cut the number and clear embossed it with a 100 Proof Press stamp - you can see this better in the close-up photo. I am also submitting this card to the Divas that Die Cut Paper challenge  - the theme is Washi or Birthday card. Obviously its birthday only, no Washi, but I used embossing and a die cut! and the last challenge I am participating in with thi...

Time to celebrate!

I have several reasons to celebrate! My daughter turned 21! And I have 2 new members to welcome to my little blog Amy V. and Jenny  I hope you continue to like what you find here. And today you can celebrate with me. I don't have a piece of artwork for you as I showed in the past, but I will share our most loved cake recipe with you - its at the end of this post.....something to look forward to... --X-- After a couple of turbulent teenage years our daughter became a beautiful responsible young women,  who is finding her way in life. Recently she took a break from college and is doing an internship, which she absolutely loves. That is her birthday card. We got her a GPS - she guessed it after she looked at her card.  The labyrinth is downloaded from the Internet. All stamps are Papertrey as are the number dies. The arrow is Lifestyle crafts. We celebrated her birthday with a lovely dinner and cake. Here is a recent p...

Runway inspired Challenge

That inspiration picture from the Runway inspired Challenge made me laugh out loud! But I do LOVE orange. I almost did not manage to make a card to take part in the challenge. Work right now is quite overwhelming. We got a new system and there are a gazillion new things to learn and a lot of the stuff does not work and need to be fixed. In the evening I am bleary eyed and exhausted. But here is my take on the challenge:  I also linked this up to the Simon Says Challenge  What's Your Favourite??, since Papertrey is (one of my) favorite companies. The letters are from Papertrey (By the Numbers dies), as are the paper planes and squiggles (Happy Trails). the background is All Night Media, heat embossed with Zing! pewter embossing power.

Cards and Bread

At the last stamp convention I attended I bought a lot of Washi tape and ever since it has been sitting around in one of my drawers. I never really know what to do with it. So I finally pulled them out and used some, although I am not really happy with the result. I guess I need to play around some more. I put Stickles on to hide the seams. The sentiment is Hero arts (Joy Borders). The die is from Prickley Pear. This great card below is from my son. His best friend is turning 12 and he is invited to his party today. So we made a quick card this morning. He selected the colors and layout and I helped him putting it together. Generally he loves my Big Shot, so he usually chooses an embossing folder. This one is from Cuttlebug. We smeared it with white ink. The numbers and letters are from Papertrey (Block alphabet dies and By the Numbers dies) And lastly here is a picture from the bread I backed.  I just took it out of the oven and t...
