New Members Welcome and Moxie Fab challenge

Its greet my new members time!  Two lovely ladies have joined my blog - I want to welcome in the order of joining: Sonja K  from The Art of Stamping Vicki from Stamp Smiles You probably know them already, since both have an active blog and make fabulous cards! I am happy you joined me and as customary I picked a welcome picture for you. this is made by  Tom Otterness , who makes fun  bronze statues, some of which can be found in New York City. This is a detail from one of his works (called Amorphophallus Titanum) in the Bronx Botanic Garden. I just love those little creatures in that gigantic plant! I hope you like it, too! --X-- Over at Moxie Fab the WCMD challenge got extended  - I am so happy about this, since I wanted to play - that inspiration picture is so up my alley.....geometric design - what could be better??? This is the picture: I made my card using the Papertrey Harlequin embossing plate, which I...

CASology #90 and a second card for PTI

I just love those cue words at CASology - this time its WET. For wet spring maybe? Or tears? So many possibilities....I went with the tears - can never pass up an opportunity to play with my Ryn Tanaka stamps...... I used water color paper, stamped the tears and then colored them in with diluted distress inks - lots of water here... I added glossy accents to make them extra wet and tiny liquid enamel dots for extra reflection. The sentiment is by IO.  ---X--- I had cut up too much paper for this weeks Make it Monday challenge and did not want to throw it out. So I just made a second card with the scraps. Quite similar to my first card - you can see it HERE The wooden speech bubbles are from Michaels, the sentiment is by CASual Fridays, and I used the Papertrey Harlequin embossing folder for the quilted look. And since this card used up scraps I am linking it with the Snippets Playground .

The Playdate Cafe #186 and Make It Monday #121

Uh, oh - I just checked The Play Date Cafe when Linky expires - and that was in 3 hors and 39 minutes!!!! Well if you think about it  that is plenty of time, given that at the Hero Arts flickr group scramble the time limit is 90 minutes and that includes uploading your pics.... I already thought about the vellum flower thing that Betsy Veldman so expertly demonstrated on the weekly Make it Monday post from Papertrey. Originally I had something different in mind and I already had started it, but id did not work with those colors....And I don't really have a good Papertrey flower, that would work for this technique....So I pulled out one of my favorite flowers from Hero Arts, colored the vellum after heat embossing it and cut it out. I used the Papertrey Harlequin embossing folder to make the background. I first cut it, but I did not like how it shined/shone? through the vellum. So I just embossed the paper with the Harlequin embossing folder. I glittered ...

Papertrey Blog Hop

I choose this color combination for the Papertrey blog hop , although I really wanted to do all of them - the inspiration pictures are so pretty!                                       Although I went with a more modern feel to my card...... I used the Papertrey Happy Harlequin stamp set and the Papertrey Harlequin embossing plate. The sentiment is from the Butterfly Signature series stamped on a die cut diamond. A few dots with Liquid pearls and that's it!

Make It Monday #115

At Make it Monday is the theme "Beyond paper with impression plates". So I though long and hard what to make....... And that is the result: I am not really happy with it - may be because it is not my style at all. I used the harlequin impression plate from Papertrey, partially die cut it and partially embossed it. I used the little cut out to make the flower and a put some glitzti embellishment on it. I used metal foil - one side is silver and one side is gold. Part of the diamond I stamped with the Happy Harlequin stamp set. Some how I think this card looks like a tin can. Maybe I try again tomorrow - it can only get better from here.......
