Dynamic Duos combined with CAS Colours and Sketches

I am getting the hang of combining challenges....not sure if that's good or bad... In the past I would just put all my "creative energy" into one challenge and then just link up with others, if the card just happened to fit...but now I do that on purpose. Well, I'll see how it goes....                           Anyhow here is the card that came out of this: I did not want to add a sentiment - I 'll add it later, when I know who will get it. And here is a close -up: Challenges: Dynamic Duos CAS Colours and Sketches Addicted to Stamps and More Amusing Challenges Materials: Papertrey Background Basics: Super Stripes, Memory Box Chloe Stem die. --X-- Card for Maddy: You may know already about  Maddy ,  who  was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and went through chemotherapy treatment followed by a stem cell transplant from her (then) fiftee...

Collage and fusion

At the  Make it Monday over at Papertrey the theme is collage. I have never attempted a collage. I always found it daunting. But yesterday evening I gave it a try. Dawn McVey has a nice video on her blog - kind of a tutorial. I watched that, took the Playdate Cafe colors of the  week as a guide and here is my card. I think its okay for a first try. Although I generally favor brighter colors.                                                                           All stamps are Papertrey ( Papertrey Harvest Berries, Papertrey Iconic Images, Papertrey Polka Dot Basics and also Damask designs, although it does not show in the picture). --X-- And here is challenge #2 - the new  fusion challenge  by Jackie Rockwell and Lesley Croghan .  ...

Pinspired Challenge #5

Life is good - I have 2 new members, who joined my blog - yeahhh! I am always so excited when I see somebody new!  HELLO and WELCOME Penny and  Kristie I hope you continue to like the cards I make and come by and visit! (I of course had to visit their blogs -both are linked - and wow - what fun and creative cards I discovered there! ) I have a welcome picture for you: It is from the African artist  El Anatsui , which creates these stunning pieces out of scrap metal, such as liquor bottle caps. I recently discovered him in the Newark Museum and showed the piece of art from there in a previous blog post . Funny, that there is now an exhibit of quite a few of his pieces in the Brooklyn Museum. Of course I had to go there and look at them. It is very impressive and definitively  worthwhile   to  see. Perhaps you like it too.  --X-- Time to play again ! Thanks to  Kelly  - the queen of Quatrefoil ...

Linda's Scramble on flickr

Yesterday was so much fun - Linda hosted a scramble in the hero Arts flickr group. Its one of my favorite things to do. Last month I messed up and missed it by a day, this time I  put it in my calendar..... The theme was    Embossing Technique - either  embossing with powder or an embossing folder or other dry embossing. You could even do that faux embossing using die cuts as Shari showed on the HA Blog - see it  here   - or use a score tool to get an embossed effect. first I had some trouble with that - I tried to guess what we would do thinking  Easter  is coming and who couldn't use an Easter card.....So it took me a  while  to come up with something. Being totally stuck on Easter I made an  Easter  card anyhow. I used a Sizzix embossing folder, the stamps are Hero Arts from the April set Cl051, little dots of Perfect Pearls and Stickles Then I went back to the scramble to see what everybody else is doing - and...

White on White

I gave the White on White challenge at Simons Says  a try. It is not easy. I wanted to keep the design clean and simple. I used the Simon Says Fresh Daisies die cut, scored the card and added the sentiment (Hero Arts Sending Smiles Messages - Cl 490) with Platinum ink. I thought black ink would be too harsh. --X-- Here is my second card that I made for the KIS challenge Schneemaenner/Snowmen . I actually thought I'll post this later, but then changed my mind an I am posting this one first, why not...... I used the snowman die from the Papertrey made of snow die collection, dressed him up with a hat and mittens with some glossy enamel. The sunglasses are Inkadinkadoo and the sentiment is a snag'em stamps. The background snow is Stampin' up.

CASology #31

RED is the theme at CASology this week - goes alog with Valentine's day. But since that is  in the past already I decided to make a general card, that can be used for just about any occasion. I could at first not make up my mind how to use that beautiful stamp from Judy Kins, which I got last year from my niece. So I made two cards. I like the first one better, my son and husband like the second one better.  I colored both cards with Copics. The stamp itself on the second card I clear embossed and made some accents with Prismacolor pencils. Sentiment: Hero Arts Sending Smiles Messages (Cl490) Sentiment: Papertrey Mixed Messages

Clean and Simple Day 5

Stretch your stamps is the homework assignment on day 5 of the C&S class. I used the Hero Arts Horizontal lines background stamp (CG143) to create those 3 different backgrounds. On the first card I clear embossed it and colored the background with distress inks and a brush. On card two I inked it with black ink and colored the lines with markers and on card 3 I white embossed it on Kraft. Other materials: The other stamp on the first card is by Ryn Tanaka , put some Stickles on it, the thanks die cut is Cuttlebug, the heart border is Martha Stewart and the love sentiment is Hero Arts Word Shadow (AC0005) And here are the cards separately - kind of amazing how different they look.... Card # 1 will take part in the Play Date cafe challenge Thanks for visiting my blog and thanks for all the nice comments you left me - I enjoy so much reading them!

A round of Applause - CFC85

This week challenge at CAS-ual Fridays is "  Round of Applause- CAS cards that celebrates an accomplishment, and feature at least one circle".  A   while back I found that beautiful clock on  Pinterest  and always thought I should make that into a card. And then I got my Simon Stamps order yesterday and - VOILA - this card "emerged".......... I used my Spellbinders dies and my brand new Simon Says ABSOLUTELY die/stamp combo. I die cut it twice, once in dark red and once in white and glued it with a slight off-set together to give some dimension and shadow. The die cut is mounted with pop-dots. The You're is a partially inked up sentiment from Hero Arts (Sending smiles messages) I also submitted this card to the Inky chicks first challenge - anything goes. I LOVE that "theme"!!
