For Susanne

Hi Everyone, I am sure a lot of you know Susanne from Keep in Touch - she is one of my old blogging friends. She recently injured her thumb (including tendon and nerv) and has to undergo surgery. She won't be able to make a card any time soon and I thought I'll cheer her up with a card: I kept it one layer - first I water colored the background. Then I used my brand new Misti to ink up the background stamp - did some multi-tone stamping here, does not really show in the picture. Added the sentiment. Since it did not show well I traced it with a white Sharpie. Heat embossed the Ladybugs and added a generous amount of Stickles. I really love that background stamp - I have not used it in ages....... My inspiration for this card came from my friend Gundi from Papierelle , who is celebration her 3rd year of blogging and has posted this sweet picture for us to play along with her: A blog named Hero - One layer card - all supplies by Hero Arts Throwb...

Make it Monday and Something Unexpected

Hi Everyone, just a quick post today - its late and I don't have much time....just wanted to share two cards with you - my first is for this weeks Make it Monday where the fabulous Laura Bassen tells us the secret of double partial die cutting. You gotta watch that video! Here is the card I made for it: All supplies are by Papertrey and I added some sequins. Here is  a different view - I mounted it with foam tape onto card stock.  My second card is for  A Blog named Hero  - something unexpected it the theme. If you know me even a little bit, you know that is just the right thing for me..... I used a leaf stamp from the set Lotus Leaves to make the bird, the green "branch" is from the same set and I added those tiny little black adornments with stamps from the Heartfelt Messages set. Both sets are by Hero Arts Added some splatters and smeared green ink for extra interest.   I am also linking up with Simon Says ...

Dream Valley #89 Flowers

Its time for a new challenge at Dream Valley - the theme is Flowers.  You have two weeks to play with us. I pulled out this lovely Hero Arts poppy stamp from  Delicate Blossoms and heat embossed them onto watercolor paper. I wet the paper with water and then colored the poppies with water colors. If the paper is really wet, it gives a nice halo around the flowers. Although I think I need a bot more practice with that technique.  I still like the outcome! Added the sentiment  - Hero Arts Heart Felt Messages once the card was dry and added some splatters. I rounded one corner - it softens it a bit. And added some Stickles in the center of teh poppies.  For this challenge we have a wonderful sponsor: If you are looking for fun, cute and lovely digi stamps for your paper-crafting or web design projects,  The Paper Shelter  is your one-stop boutique! This growing  catalog  of high-quality digi stamps...

Hello, its time for anew challenge at ATSM - this is  Challenge #106 - Anything Goes  - isn't that your favorite thing to do? We also have a fabulous sponsor - scroll down to see who it is.... I love rainbow colors and I have this cool triangle stamp by My Favorite Things, called jumbo Mod Borders, that has been sitting around unused for awhile. So I inked it up.... The sentiment is  Hero Arts Heart Felt Messages, the tag is by Die-namics. I used some eyelets , sequins and Bakers twine. And here is our wonderful sponsor: Eureka Stamps The winner will get 3 digis. Don't forget to check out the  ATSM blog  and see all the inspiration from our fabulous DT! I am also linking this up with the  July Linky Party  for a chance to win a $25.00 gift card in the  a2zscrapbooking Store. CASology and Paper Players

It has been almost a week for me without making a card......that was not my choice, just too many other things happening. Mainly work.....Hopefully next week will be better, although we are having visitors for the next two and a half weeks and I want to spend some time with them, too. I wanted to play with CASology all week long, finally I had a few minutes to make this: The cue work is PAINT. I took some acrylic paint, spread a strip of it onto the card stock and then took one of those cake decorating thingies from my kitchen drawer and made the vertical strips. I guess a comb would work too. The sentiment is by Hero Arts. Heat embossed in white. Enamel dots.  Hmm, looking at that card I can see lots of possibilities ......I think I'll keep that thing now in my craft room... Below is that thing: And here is wanted to share a different kind of visitor, which we discovered last night on the roof: You see, we still have snow, its supposed to snow a bit...

Stamplorations

Stamplorations challenge  is all about silhouette stamps. I used a stamp set from Hero Arts called Lotus Leaves, which is all silhouette stamps. I had this set forever now - it is so pretty , but I did not get around to use it.....The big flower I heat embossed after stamping it with yellow pigment ink and sponged around it.  The small flowers I stamped with Versamark onto yellow card stock. The sentiment is Hero Arts Heart Felt Messages. Some twine from the Twinery, to balance it out. Its a bit different than my usual style, but I still like it - especially how the yellow of the flower gets repeated in the card base. I am also linking this card with Creative Friday - no Christmas card Inkspirational - Anything goes Crafts4eternity  - use something new Have a great day and thanks for visiting!

Paper Players Challenge #142

One layer card is the theme at the Paper Players this week. This card is not a novel idea - it has been around. But I like it very much. It is simple and effective. I inked up a Hero Arts flower and clear embossed it. Icolored it with Prismacolor pencils, drew the frame around and stamped the sentiment inside. I also used some Liquid Pearls and Stickles in the center of the flower. I am submitting this card to the  Addicted to CAS  challenge "Flower". Materials: Hero Arts Blossom Art (Cl495), Hero Arts Heart Felt Messages (Cl150)

The Paper Players - #140

Recycling is the theme with the Paper Players  this week. That is just up my alley! I am an avid recycler - I recycle everything possible and make sure the rest of my household complies..... I love those little Reeses peanut butter cups -    oh, they are sooooo yummmy! I "sacrificed" myself  to get those wrappers...... to make this card: The idea with the vase I got from Kelly at Notable Nest  - she made several brilliant cards with that - worthwhile to see. So I made a flower and two buds out of the wrappers, using thin wire and gluing a ready made flower into the center. The white background paper I ran through my Big Shot with the Papertrey Linen embossing plate - it needed some texture. The sentiment is Hero Arts Heart Felt Messages (Cl150).

One-Layer Wednesday 133: Shapes Galore

First I want to say HELLO to a new member -  ANGEL joined my blog. Unfortunately I can not find a blog, so I can't link her. But I am always happy when somebody new joins in here - I hope you keep liking what you find here. And as is customary for my blog I have a thank you picture for you: I was at the Liberty Arts Science center with my son and friends and on the way to the parking lot we saw those bronze plaques in the sidewalk. They were commissioned by the NJ Transit Authority. I thought they were really pretty. And my welcome picture in a way also fits the card challenge I made this card for...   --X-- Shapes Galore - that is the theme at OWL this week. I always love polka dots - and rainbow colors - they never fail. The card looks really simple, but it was not. Most of the time I do one try and that's it, but this one - I think I did 5 - first I had different colors and lining up the stamp was a pain.  Mo...

colourQ challenge #178...

The  Color Q challenge  tempts us this week with this gorgeous inspiration photo: What a cool shower curtain! I love the fresh look of it. First I was contemplating butterflies for hte card, but this was already done and I wanted something different. somewhere in my stash of unused stamps that I amassed on one of those stamp fairs I found this stamp that I thought goes well with the challenge - and its about time to use it! In the end I almost messed it up, smudging the sentiment stamp fell out of my hand when I lifted it off the card - I hate, when that happens...But a couple of Stickles dots take care of that problem! I colored the stamp with Copics, the sentiment is Hero Arts Heart Felt Messages (Cl150). Today's quote: No matter how many mistakes you make or how slow you progress, you are still way ahead of everyone who isn't trying. Anonymous

OLW# 128 - Feminine Birthday Card

I just got my latest order of Papertrey stamps and dies. This set is from their new release and I had to have it. Dawn McVey made this beautiful card with that set - she was the main reason I bought it. I tried her technique (CASEd it....) and I actually like the result of it. My card is kind of similar to hers.....Originally I wanted to make the blossoms blue, but since the challenge is about feminine cards I opted for red. Not sure why - Heather Telford made a blue card....Perhaps later I ll make a blue version. I am submitting this to the OLW challenge . Materials: Papertrey - Cutting Garden,  Hero Arts Heart Felt Messages (Cl150), Hero Arts April (Cl051), Distress Inks
