House of Cards Blog Hop

Hi Everyone, can you believe we've come to the end of our third term here at House of Cards ?!  We are saying a fond farewell to some of our DT members and feel so grateful to those staying on.  To say goodbye and thank you, we're celebrating with a blog hop!  You should have arrived here from the wonderfully talented Cohenna .    This hop  will run   FROM  June 1ST AT 6:00 AM CST  THROUGH June 15TH AT NOON CST ,  ANY CARD STYLE   is welcome and we've got a gorgeous photo inspiration for your crafting enjoyment!  Here's our photo inspiration~ And here is my card: You can easily see what inspired me here - the picture frame and the pink flowers. I used this awesome digital stamp called Blossom 1 from our sponsor Stitchy Bear, magnified it and printed a part of it. I colored it with watercolors and added Stickles to the center pf the blossoms. The black frame I cut with a die by Simon Says. the bir...

Eyelet Birthday Card

Hi, Crafting Friends I needed a card for my daughters birthday, so what is better than combining a color challenge with something else? That something else is the eyelet challenge  over at Retro Rubber where my friend Susanne is GDT! Of course I had to play!!!!! I used the colors from this weeks  Color Throwdown . The numbers are dangling from gold threads- threaded through eyelets. The birthday die is Papertrey, as are the numbers. The happy is Paper Smooches - Sentiment sampler - my very first Paper Smooches set I bought several years ago.... We had one warm day today - 46 degrees, tomorrow night the predicted low is 1 degree - isn't that crazy??? Happy Stamping!

Make it Monday with Colour Q

Hi Everybody, just a quick post today..... I made a card for this weeks  Make it Monday over at Papertrey,  where talented  Laurie Willison shows us how to use Cover Plate dies to create stencils to be used with embossing paste. I used my favorite new embossing plate from Papertrey to make this card and the colors I took from this weeks Colour Q  challenge.  I made myself a stencil form the cover plate, smeared embossing paste over it and let it dry. I then inked it with distress inks. The die cut sentiment is Papertrey as well, the happy is by MFT as are the die cut sequins.  Hope you like it! I am also adding this card to Simon Says Wednesday challenge - add a little texture

Dream Valley Challenge #81 "Anything Goes"

Hi Everybody,  its another challenge at  Dream Valley  and the challenge is "Anything Goes"! Are you up for this? I procrastinated forever to make a card  - until finally tonight I looked at THIS tutorial from Splitcoaststampers and knew what I should make. I made something similar in the past (you can check it out HERE  and HERE ) - Papertrey had a video by the oh so talented  Betsy Veldman about this 3-D technique. Supplies: Papertrey Birthday Die, Mama Elephant dies, sentiment: Paper Smooches Now  head over to the blog  and let our wonderful DT can inspire you! I took the colors from this weeks CAS Colours and Sketche s challenge, although my turquoise looks much more blue in the photo than it is in real life.... I am also linking this with Simon Says - Anything Goes

Make It Monday #151 and Curtain call

Betsy Feldman  shows us a cool technique on this weeks  Make It Monday . She calls it "Drop Shadow Die Cuts". Its simple, yet effective. I had to try it..... Looks cool right? All die cuts and stamps are Papertrey, except the "happy" - that's from Paper Smooches.  I am also playing in the Curtain call challenge this week. The delicious inspiration photo is below. Guess what the centers of my flowers are......... ......you got it!  Mini Marshmallows I am also linking this card with: Creative Friday  -   Kraft Snippets Playground   - everything die cut is made with snippets And just to show you the snow we had 2 days ago - now imagine that with an additional layer of perhaps 6 inches of heavy, wet snow followed by icy rain....... Stay warm!

Two cards for Simply Create Too #43

Simply Create Too has a photo inspiration this month. (I wish I could show it to you, but the computer here does not let me copy the picture into this post - I will add it later)... I made two cards for this challenge and I want to share them with you: For this card I used the Memory Box Chloe Stem die, Washi tape and the lovely sentiment I got from my friend Monika in Munich - I can't remember the company - I am still in Calgary - leaving tomorrow morning and apparently I have nothing better do do....   I am also entering this card into the Moxie Fab Birthday card challenge . For this card I used the technique by Betsy Veldman , that I have used on a recent card I made for the Make it Monday by Papertrey. I like the result better this time - it really needs some practice... The birthday die is by Papertrey, the stars are from Simon Says and added some bling. Go and visit Simply Create Too - you have 12 days to s...

The Die Cut Divas - Anything but a Card

Yeah, I just was the random winner at the Die Cuts Divas last challenge - of course I have to play again. This time the theme is "Anything but a card". I decided to make a few gift card pillow boxes. There are always so many birthdays - can't have too many of those.... I think they are gender neutral... more or less.... I used the Papertrey pillow box die. The word dies are also Papertrey. The "for" actually says "forever", but its easy enough to cut it off. The little bird is from Memory box. The elephant is on of those $stamps from Michaels and the turtle is from Inkadinkadoo. I stamped them and fuzzy cut them.  Some twine and a little scalloped punch as a tag. The paper is by Dream Street. The pillowbox die is cleverly designed - you can make 4 boxed from one sheet of paper.  I did not fold the boxed in the bottom image - its easier to store them flat.

Color Q combined with Colours and Sketches

Here are the two challenges - one  sketch , one color challenge                   By pure change on one of my latest Michaels visits I bought this Washi tape and they had cork Stickers - both were on sale, of course.... I mounted the Washi tape on cardstock and cut out the bottom triangle to make it into a banner. The birthday die cut is from Papertrey and the little happy stamp is from Stampendous. I will also submit this to the Die-cut Divas April challenge - Washi or Birthday challenge. I am not sure which background I like better, so I kept both photos. What do you think? Fro now I am going back into my garden - there is weeding to be done......
