Non Christmas card with Christmas stamps

Hi Everyone, here is a challenge just to my liking - and I have thought about this in the past, wishing somebody would offer that as a challenge - make a non Christmas card with Christmas stamps - and here it is - put on by Make the  Day Special Stamp Store ! Hurrah! I used this ancient Hero Arts set - love that one and picked that skinny bare Christmas tree. Stamped a half circle at the top of my card with Versamark and heat embossed it in white. I then masked the wedges and sponged them with distress inks in rainbow colors.  The sentiment is from the set  OWH Year Round sentiments . Also  heat embossed it in white. I die cut the card stock using the stitched square die by Simon Says Stamps, glued it onto fun foam and mounted it onto a white card base. Added the silver embroidery thread and tiny sequins.  So how do you like that challenge theme? You can also play in this month A2z Scarpbooking Store Challenge - its CAS as a the...

Periodic Luck and Raindrops

Its LUCK over at CASology - took me a while to come up with something...... I took this from the periodic table of the elements - choosing Lutetium, Carbon and Potassium. I composed it and printed this out with my ancient printer. In case you are wondering about the pig - pigs are supposed to bring you good luck in Germany ( so called Gluecksschwein - I am German, in case you don't know). The sentiment is from a Hero Arts Christmas set called Merriest Wishes - I only used a part of it.....The little piggy is one of those $1 Michaels stamps and the arrow is Heidi Swap - another steal from Michaels And just that you don't think I am that brilliant - I got the inspiration from a pretty ugly lunch bag, that I found  by chance on the internet...                                                               ...

Stencil Class Day 3 and Merry Mondays

Today is all about using embossing paste. I don't buy any - already enough stuff in my craft room... I make my own. Its super easy, feels soft and velvety when dry and it holds up well. It also dries really fast. For now I only have time to show you one card, but perhaps later today I'll show you more... The stencil is by TCW called Mini Branches. The recipe for the embossing paste you can find HERE . Just keep in mind - depending on the humidity the amount of water varies, but can be easily adjusted. The bird is Memory Box - perched Reed Bird. The little birds are by Impression Obsession. The sentiment is Hero Arts. Challenges: Merry Monday  -  Red, Vanilla, Kraft and  Chocolate with Ribbon   CHNC - Trees CHNC extra - anything Christmas Snippets Playground - use a snippet

Simply Create too - Christmas in July

A little late, but here are two cards I created for the  Simply Create Too challenge blog . There is still time to play in this challenge and if you have children, who like to make cards - there is a separate kids category. Not many kids play in there - the chances of winning are high! Since I am not from this country and since I am fairly new to blogging, I was wondering what to do with that theme. So I took this quite literally and had some fun with those cards. The surfing snowman I made with a die from Papertrey, and masked off an old Penny Black stamp, to put the snowman on it.  The sentiment is from Inkadinkadoo, as are the snowman's sunglasses.  I colored it with chalks and Copics. The snowman is partially elevated with a foam dot. The second card was easy too. Not my usual style, but I like it. Its funny, isn't it? I took some Martha Stewart paper and cut off the wintery houses at the bottom half of it. I masked the sun and sponged it. I al...

Runway Inspired Challenge #26

I really like this inspiration photo form this month Runway inspired challenge . Isn't that dress gorgeous?! I tried to recreate it on my card, which I made for my sister. It's the first time I tried my alcohol inks, which have been festering in a drawer now for about 9 months....I like the result - I guess I will start using them more. The star/snowflake is from Penny black, the sentiment is Hero Arts. I also liked it up with CASology  #24 "Star" challenge.

More Holiday cards and another school project

Its never ending - the Holiday card production. .... I finally sent out all the cards that go overseas and started to send cards within the US. Only a couple of days left...Here are some other "works" of mine. the first batch I made with the Sizzix Alterations Snowflake embossing folder and  a Hero Arts sentiment (Merriest Wishes) The second set is just another take on a card I made earlier , just played around with different colors.  The tree stamp is from Outlines stamps, the sentiment is Hero Arts. Embellished with Stickles and Perfect Pearls, the  star punch is from Michaels Here is another one of my sons school project he choose to do a timeline about JJR Tolkien - he is a big fan and we just saw "The Hobbit". It was fun making it. Especially those little books we made - used the Lord of the Rings for the inside pages - we had an old volume, that was falling apart.

Christmas Card Swap

I took part in a Christmas Card swap this year and I have received the most wonderful cards. Unfortunately my efforts got somewhat hampered by hurricane Sandy. I just could  not make any cards in the evening - it was too dark and candlelight is not enough. On the weekend it was simply too cold and we spent the day cleaning up the yard and our cluttered basement. As long as we were moving we were okay. But I did make a couple of different cards and here they are: This set I made with  a Memory Box die called "Modern Landscape". The snowflakes stamp is from Hero Arts, called "Stunning Snowflakes". I inked it up with Versamark and embossed it in white. The sentiment is Hero Arts as well (Merriest Wishes). To cause some more contrast I sponged with blue ink on the background before I glued the die cut on it. It does not show well, but I put some Stickles on the border of the die cut and put some Stickles on the stars next to the sentiment. The card on the...

Neon Holiday

Ahh, finally time again, to create a new card. I felt inspired by the new  Moxie Fab challenge  Keen on Neon, Here is my take on it: The sentiment is from Hero Arts Merriest Wishes and the Die cut is Sizzix Holly with Berries#5

Hero Arts Scramble 52

Todays Hero Arts scramble was hosted by Kathy (krolski). the theme was use a border punch and a background stamp. My son decided to join in the fun and here are his 2 cards: I love the way he chose the colors - kids are just not afraid of using non-traditional colors - he would have done well in the last scramble, too. I am very proud of him. And for sure he enjoyed all the comments he got on flickr. And here are my cards -managed to squeeze out three, puh, that was almost stressful!
