House of Cards January Sketch Challenge

Oh, I am so excited - this is the first time for me on the House of Cards DT! For this month it is a sketch challenge. If you are not familiar with the rules, you can read them HERE Since I am on the CAS team I choose to do a one-layer card with the sketch.  I die cut the oval with a die-namics die and used it as a mask, which I then sponged in green and yellow - perhaps deep down I am longing for spring......The flower is by Studio G, the sentiment is Papertrey Dress Form. I "grounded" the flowers with some quick black pen strikes  - it also separates the sentiment from the medallion, just like in the sketch. You have two weeks to link up your CAS or Classic and Elegant card with House of Cards. I hope to see your creations there! I am also submitting this card to the brand new One Layer Simplicity challenge  #1 - restock your shelves - its meant to be a birthday card - I always need a lot of those..... Thanks for ...

CAS Colours and Sketches #50

The   CAS Colours and Sketches  challenge is almost over and I need to get this card in before it is too late... I used an off white card stock - that does not really show here... The stamp is Studio G. I clear embosssed it and then sponged around, masking only the bottom and left side. The sentiment is by PTI. I mounted it onto suede colored card stock, added tiny Memory Box pearls and some Stickles. You can see the Stickles better on the close-up: It came out nice. It has such a light feel to it and I like the subtle glitter! I wish you all a great day - hope you liked what you saw and come back soon again!

House of Cards

The summer heat and work made a significant dent into my card making.... My craft room is on the top floor and there is no air conditioning..... I could not get myself to go in there the last couple of days. Never mind, that I was swamped with work anyhow and my evenings were occupied with work.....but today I tackled a card that I knew exactly how I wanted it to be, so it would not take too long to make. I used watercolor paper and colored it as you can see, using distress ink and a brush. I sprinkled water droplets on it once it was dry. The flower is a die cut from Memory Box (Fresh Daisies die - Simon Says), the sentiment is Papertrey - Dress Form. Some twine and pearls and  voila' - I will be linking this card up with  House of Cards challenge - classic and elegant. And I am also linking this card with Top 1  - Stempelgaudi  - link up your favorite card from the previous month - there is a prize to win in addition to the fun loo...

First I want to welcome my new members on my blog Sudha Kalra and  jules ov crafts  Sudha is from Delhi and has an amazing website - beautiful cards and craft supplies. I did not find Jules on the web, so I can't tell you anything about him. But thanks for joining, I hope you have fun on my little blog. T snapped this picture for both of you. I went to a little exhibit in a nearby Museum (Morris Museum) and they had this amazing little exhibit called Toying with Art. This picture show one of Dalton Ghettis amazing pencil sculptures - masterpieces carved out of graphite. Absolutely amazing work. I thought I have to share that with you. I'll show you more in a later post.  And now back to card making... Toady was the first day of  This card I made using one of the "homework" sketches I used Sizzix heart dies to cut out the pink card layer, made a mask for the grey heart, which I sponged and the...

Color Embossing

I played around with color embossing after watching Heather's video on Make it Monday #101. I started with the grey PP and put the big yellow blossom in the bottom left corner, but had totally forgotten, that this yellow despite being opaque does not work.....Grrrr... So I took white cardstock and simultaneously color embossed both. I covered that mishap on the PP with some green leaves - I still like the end result. All stamps are  Papertrey - Beautiful Blooms and Dress Form. Tonight I won't be able to make cards - have to work until late :( At least its quiet enough for now to get that blog post out and link it up with Make it Mondays . Thank you all for visiting and those kind an  uplifting comments you left on my blog - they always put a smile on my face :)

Annabelle challenge 152

Annabelle Stamps has this beautiful color challenge going on right now. I don't have any stamps from them, but I do own this gorgeous die. Hopefully that qualifies me for the challenge..... And here is my card: The sentiment is from Papertrey, the set is called "Dress Form" - that font is just so pretty....I colored  the die cut with Copics and underlayed it with red paper. Added some gems for sparkle and balance.
