Homework and Make it Monday

I managed to make one of my "homework cards" from the CAS class - I was intrigued by those cute tiles that Julie Ebersole tought us the how to on day 1! Made it into a baby card: Used an ancient Sizzix die and a cuttlebug embossing folder. Some tissue paper, silver string and sequins. Its easy but the effect is great! I love it! I am also linking this card with the Snippets Playground - use a snippet (the tile paper) and with Happy Little Stampers - Embossing ( the tile is clear embossed) But I also love the effect you can achieve when layering cover plate die cuts, as Dawn McVey teaches us in this weeks Make it Monday. Looks cool, don't you think? Both the cover plate and sentiment are Papertrey. Added enamel dots. I am also playing with this card in: IN{K}SPIRE_me , using different greens and grey.    Seize the Birthday  - anything goes I thought I share - finally we got some snow - this is a picture of my front yard! ...

Make it Monday #164

This week's  Make it Monday is a really cool one - the talented Heather Nichols has a tutorial about cluster stamping - I just love how this came out: You start with the sentiment  - stamp it with Versamark and clear emboss it. Then you take small stamps and cluster them around the sentiment. Easy peasy...... Mounted the white cardbase onto a green card. The colors I took from the Cupcake Inspirations  challenge And the lay out I got from this weeks CASE this Sketch  I am also linking this card with Seize the Birthday - anything Birthday Materials: all stamps by  Papertrey  - Polka Dot Basics, Sketched Shapes, Reasons to Smile

Papertrey 7 year Anniversary - Day 3

Papertrey  7 year Anniversary - Day 3 A challenge of my linking! 7 minutes to choose 7 supplies do a project in 17 min. or less! Darn, I did not count my supplies.... whatever.....  Card one  took me 11 minutes and 56 seconds to make - grabbing some paper, ink and one stamp set did not take long and since I had plenty of time left I added the butterfly, which I also stamped Card two took me 8 minutes and  48  seconds to make - again the supplies were a non-issue and I had lots of time to add some sequins... I love quick cards :)

Make It Monday #151 and Curtain call

Betsy Feldman  shows us a cool technique on this weeks  Make It Monday . She calls it "Drop Shadow Die Cuts". Its simple, yet effective. I had to try it..... Looks cool right? All die cuts and stamps are Papertrey, except the "happy" - that's from Paper Smooches.  I am also playing in the Curtain call challenge this week. The delicious inspiration photo is below. Guess what the centers of my flowers are......... ......you got it!  Mini Marshmallows I am also linking this card with: Creative Friday  -   Kraft Snippets Playground   - everything die cut is made with snippets And just to show you the snow we had 2 days ago - now imagine that with an additional layer of perhaps 6 inches of heavy, wet snow followed by icy rain....... Stay warm!

Contrast

Now there is an interesting challenge at CASology this week - the theme is CONTRAST. That can be interpreted in so many ways. I choose to do two contrasts in my card - neon colors versus black and an organic form versus geometric ones. The tree is really just a branch from A Muse, that I pieced together with my Stamp-a-ma-jig. The shapes are from  STAMPlorations the set is   Retro Mod Shapes . The sentiment is  Papertrey Sketched Shapes. the neon inks are Hero Arts. I am also linking this with: Addicted to stamps  -  CAS Seize the birthday   - BIRTHDAY (anything goes) One Layer Simplicity challenge - restock your shelves

PPA #186 and welcome to 3 New Members

This year already has been so good to me - I have 3 more new members, I just won the TAWS challenge #44 with THIS card and best of all I made the Stamplorations DT - I guess I don't have to keep this a secret, since it was posted on the blog. So lets greet the new members in order of joining: jellybeanerz - so sorry, could not find a blog, but I will add it, if you let me know Shery  the owner of those gorgeous Stamplorations stamps (I linked the shop, so you can check them out yourself).  Sandi Munro , who in addition to her own blog is on the DT for Addicted to Stamps and More  and Inkspirational I am in awe of all this talent that is joining my blog - I hope you will like what I'll make the future. And here is my welcome picture for you: I just love this - it is by El Anatsui , who had an exhibit at the Brooklyn Museum last March. He works with recycled materials - metal bottle caps in fact and creates those amazing pieces that look like fabric...

Make it Mondays #134: Repeat + Lift combined with Dynamic Duos

This weeks Make it Mondays is much easier than last weeks..... and it comes out really cool!  And the best thing - its quick and easy! I used two different pinks - a light one and a darker one, although it does not show as well in this photo, oh well... I used the Papertrey Wonderful Words Hello set and for the sentiment and banners the Sketched Shapes set. As embellishment a shiny paper candy - one of my new aquisitions from theScrapbook Expo.... I am linking this card with the  Snippets Playground  - the square white paper is that thank you card that Papertrey puts in with your order - I NEVER throw anything out that could be potentially useful....the HELLO is from white scrap card stock as well..... I am also linking this card with Dynamic Duos

Creative Friday #85 and Hello to 2 new Members

Two new members on my little blog - I can't believe it! For a long time membership was kind of flat, so this is very exciting!  Michelle  is on the design team for Simon Says and loves vintage. Mary  has been in blog land since March 2012 and uses a variety of styles - even has given mixed media a try! There are treasures to find on each blog - perhaps you want to check them out yourself! I choose this as my welcome picture: I usually choose some modern artist for that - this is different. It is a "collage" of used glass molds for glass blowing. I found this on a recent visit to Vermont, where I visited the Simon Pearce workshop in Quechee. So it's kind of vintage, with a modern feel to it....I hope you like it! --X-- With a color inspiration over at Creative Friday  like this I can't resist.... Here is my card: The background squares I cut from left over rubber snippets (when you buy sheets of stamps) and stamp...

Birthday card and Birthday Cake

One layer Wednesday is hosted by the lovely Karen this week and the theme is silhouettes. I have so many silhouette stamps in my stash, I really should use them....but I just got my order from Lavinia - stamps - do you know them? They are fabulous! I have seen them a while ago hopping around on the internet and was dying to have some. They are British and unfortunately the British pound is much stronger than the dollar.....But I finally gave in - ordered a whole bunch of them and I am going to surprise my sister with some - its her birthday - by the time I post this she has gotten her present :) I sponged with various inks after I masked off the frame and used Versafine ink for the stamps. those stamps are so detailed, I thought this would be best to use. As you see I did some generational stamping.  The sentiment is Papertrey - Sketched Shapes. Doesn't it look like its made for those stamps? I am also playing with this card in Seize the Birthday - Anythi...
