Unique Eggplants!

Hi Everyone, sharing a quick card I made for the One Layer simplicity challenge this month. The theme is fruit smoothie. That stumped me at first - not a lot of fruit stamps...but then I remembered my ancient wooden eggplant stamp from A Stamp in the Hand - sadly that company does not exist anymore.... Now if you are wondering what an eggplant has to do with a fruit - it IS one! I am quoting Wikipedia here: "Eggplant  ( Solanum melongena ) or  aubergine  is a  species  of  nightshade  grown for its edible fruit." Now I do have an apple stamp from that company and a pear, but I was fixated on eggplant.... So I took my markers and colored the eggplants - they look kind of blue here, but that has to do with my camera being unable to handle the color purple.... And then I needed a sentiment....my usual haphazard way of creating a card - starting and then what??? Finding a suitable sentiment was NOT easy, after all, those are egg...

Going Grey

Hi Everyone, I am going Grey for Sunday Stamps  - could not resist their inspiration picture - see below. And I also wanted to play with this weeks   Addicted to CAS chevron challenge. And I have the perfect stamp for it, I think. The Line upon Line  stamp from The Alley Way Stamps. As you all can guess - they made that one for me ;) - cool and graphic - just my thing!  I heat embossed it in clear and die some ombre sponging with Black Soot distress ink. The sentiment is also from TAWS  - all about YOU . Added seam binding. The arrow is from my die cut scrap pile. I could not resist to add the tiny neon pink strip - a little snippet lying around on my craft table. It might disqualify me from the Sunday Stamp challenge, but I could not resist. This card need a teeny tiny bit of color.... The sequin is actually pink as well, but looks purple in the picture. Hope you like it and hopefully I will not get disqualified... Happy Stampin...

TAWS# 40 and Good Bye to Cath

Hi, my friends,  I am back with a new card - I have been insanely busy with work, so I had to take a break. But tonight I freed up some time. I wanted to play with the TAWS challenge and I also wanted to make a card for Cath, who is leaving - how sad for all of us! I really enjoyed her challenges, her inspiration pics and all the fun she brought to blogland. Her posts on Moxie Fab always put a smile on my face. I discovered so many things thanks to Cath. Her generosity is amazing!  So here is my card for you Cath: : You were an inspiration to all of us and you encouraged us to tackle new territories with your challenges.  I enjoyed your amazing pictures you shared with us. You brightened my days. I will miss you! I wish you well in your future endeavors. Perhaps you will not vanish completely. Many hugs, Cornelia --X-- I used my favorite TAWS set Bird Brain. I heat embossed the birds, colored them with Copics and fuzzu cut th...

Twinery #12 - In the Round - 10/18

Always at the last moment.... the  Twinery  challenge is coming to an end and I have to get my card in...... I somewhat recently was the lucky winner of this gorgeous twine from the Twinery (thank you Twinery) with THIS card - so I had to put my win to good use. I must say, this challenge was not easy for me. I had several ideas, but none of them looked really good  when I tried it out. This card evolved from one of my ideas. It took me a few days to "perfect" it. But now I am really happy with it. In fact I keep looking at it and it makes me smile. The birds are from my favorite Alley Way stamp set Bird Brain. The sentiment is also TAWS - all about YOU.  Perhaps it makes you smile too :) Thanks for visiting and thank you so  much for all your lovely comments. I so much appreciate them - thank you all!

Action Card with a little video!

Boy, did I have FUN making this card! I wanted to play in the Less is More challenge , but there were already soooo many beautiful entries and I wanted to do something different - kind of hard with a simple sketch like that, but today I had an idea...... Here it is: I used that cute little TAWS stamp set called Change and a Sizzix embossing folder. I fuzzy cut the piggy and the coins, mounted the piggy on an action wobbler and added a paper candy.  Here you can see it in action: This card will also go into the TAWS challenge  and into the  Snippets Playground - since I used a little snippet of turquoise paper for the coins and sentiment. Animals/ Fall is the challenge at  the Die Cut Divas  - orange is a fall color and a pig is an animal... And lastly it will go into the Simon Says Challenge  - We're going dotty! Lots of dots on this card... And here are the inspiration pics:           ...

TAWS#37

The clock is ticking for the TAWS challenge  - but there are 2 more days left to play. For once I am not scrambling at the last minute..... Here is the card I made: I tried to mimic the clock frame with an EK sucess punch. All stamps are TAWS - Bird Brain and  Jibber Jabber. I gold embossed the birds and colored the beaks with a metallic pen. I also used a touch of Stickles, although it does not show in the picture.....And, of course the googly eyes- they make those birds even more unique! I love the Bird Brain set - it makes me smile every time I use it! And just for the fun of it I am going to enter this into the Moxie Fab challenge  - All that Glitters is Gold!

TAWS #36

Hello there - you gotta love this inspiration photo from The Alley Way Stamps ! Hard to recreate the mood. I tried. I really loved how the card turned out. I used blue vellum, to give it that light quality. The piggy is heat embossed on the same vellum. I fuzzy cut it and also cut out the money slit with a craft knife.  The money I colored with Copics. All stamps are Alley Way from the set Change. Thanks for stepping by and have a great day!

TAWS#35 and Less is More #134

Hi Everyone,  I am playing again in the TAWS challenge  -  (scroll down for the Less is more challenge) - and in the Seize the Birthday challenge - anything goes Birthday.  Below you can see the inspiration picture for TAWS. I was tempted to do the chalkboard technique, but then in the end decided against it - I wanted to keep it clean.... I used 3 of my TAWS stamp sets for this:  Bird Brain, Jibber Jabber and All about YOU. The white sentiment is heat embossed, the birds are colored with Copics. Two enamel dots to finish it of.                   --X-- The challenge at Less is More is Washi Tape - so its going to be a quick card. I have some Halloween washi tapes and I decided to use them finally.... The stamps are Studio G and craft smart (Michaels) I white embossed them and put tiny red perfect pearl dots as spider eyes - not sure if you can see them....

TAWS BE Inspired Challenge #34

I just love the Alley Way stamps - they are so fun and cute in a very refreshing, modern way. I also really liked this month inspiration picture (see below) and that is what I did with it: I had some left over paper strips from My Mind's eye that fit the cup. The stamps are from the TAWS - Bird Brain and Jibber Jabber set. I colored the stamps with distress inks. Here is the link for the challenge . --X-- Ready for more Canada pictures? If not then don't scroll down...... We went from Calgary to Banff National Park and today's pictures are all form there. The lake is Lake Luise and the other pictures are taken along the Icefields parkway .

TAWS #33 combined with KIS #19

I will be leaving for Canada this afternoon, but I thought I'll play once more, before my break..... so I needed something CAS, and what better to play in than those two challenges?  The Alley Way stamps Keep it Simple Make it three - it also fits the   Moxie Fab Birthday card challenge . Materials: TAWS - Bird Brain, TAWS - Jibber Jabber for the sentiment, some twine, patterned paper and Copics                                  --X-- I also wanted to share a card with you: Oh my, what a masterpiece! Doerthe - her blog is Flos Habseligkeiten  made that for me - we had a little craft supply exchange. She send me this beautiful rainbow paper from Germany - you can't get that in the US and I send her some wobblers. Go visit her blog - she already made a great card with it - my rain bow card has to wait..... I wish you all a great week -...
