Blog Candy Thanks

I have been very busy the last couple of days - so sorry my new members for the late greeting! But here it is - thank you Kate  - sorry, could not find a link Beverly  - sorry, could not find a link Sherrie  for joining my blog. I so much appreciate you and everyone else who just comes and visits. I have a welcome picture for you: Generally I like to show art pictures -  this is actually art made by a spider or insect, who nestled the egg sac into a leave. So sorry I neither know the critter, nor do I know the name of the plant - let me know, if you do. But I do think its amazingly beautiful and I hope you like it as much as I do. --X-- Recently I was the very lucky winner of Rosi's  generous blog candy. Not only did she send me a lot of goodies, but she made me a beautiful card and an adorable mini album that you can see HERE . I had to make a special than you card for her. I finally tried out those f...

Snow, New Members and Some Cards, of course....

The weather forecast was right - we got a lot of snow overnight and I can feel  my muscles after all the shoveling I did - what a great workout! I actually like shoveling snow - I know its weird. and this is how it looked like this morning: A winter wonder land! Isn't it gorgeous? Except for the all of a sudden low dangling electrical wires.... And now a welcome for my new members: Kim Anja  (hauiline) Kelly  Mary J Go and checkout their blogs - they are fabulous!  As my welcome gift to you - I made a cake, which I would love to share with you, but since that is impossible I'll share the recipe. I made this cake quite often - everybody in my family loves it, even my husband who gets very picky, when it comes to sweet things. And the best thing about this cake is that it gets better as it gets older, usually its the other way around. So in case you'll give it a try, bake it at least one day beforehan...

Hearts Window Card

I made this card for a Valentine's Day card exchange at the flickr LOVE card group . I wanted to make something special and different and that is what I came up with: The sentiment is Hero Arts Hugs N Hearts. I cut the window with a Lifestyle crafts die and used various punches for the hearts. Each heart is doubles up with the string in between. It was a little tedious to make - next time it would go faster, that is always the case for the second attempt. But I was really happy with the result - it actually looks like I envisioned it (that is not always the case with my ideas...) I hope the recipient of this card does not mind me submitting it for the Moxie Fab window card challenge I just saw over at Simon Says is "Anything goes"   - that is my kind of a challenge - into this challenge this card will go....

Clean & Simple Day 1 and some other fun

Today is day 3 of the Clean & Simple card making class. I was soooo delightfully busy today that I did not even progress to day 2. So this little post is about day 1, using masking. There is not much masking on this card, oh well. Some of the hearts are from Michaels, as is the sentiment, some are from Hero Arts. I used a Fiskars corner punch and underlayed the corners with red paper.   I spent my day at the Newark Museum, which has a fun little exhibit about tea pots. Here are some examples. The variety was amazing and some of them were really fun, like the middle pot in the top row, which shows a building with plumming and a dog on top, Ha, ha...! Another really stunning piece was this: It looked like a golden, glittery tapestry, but it was assembled from metal cans. And now its movie time for me! Have a good night and thanks again for all those niece comments you left on my blog, I really enjoy reading them.

Feeling Sketchy #41

Feeling Sketchy has this pretty layout  this week. It is such a well balanced sketch. It reminded me about this neglected frame stamp that I have in my closet from "Just for Fun" - time to pull it out and re-ink! Here is my take on the sketch: The hearts are from Hero Arts (Hugs N Hearts) and the sentiment is Penny Black (all you need...) The punched out heart is made with a Marvy punch. Again I used one of those handy dandy Home Depot paint chips. First I punched a couple of hearts with the solid color, but then I thought its kind od neat if I line up that white strip with the black strip from the frame and I left it at that. This card is a little busy for me, but I still like it!
