Retrosketches and Creative Friday and Welcome to 2 New Members

Good news - I have two more members on my blog - yeahh, its growing and that makes me happy! I want to welcome

and

I am glad you found my blog Ladies and decided to join! I picked a welcome photos for you:

It is a quilt by Ellen Anne Eddy, its called "Skinny Dipping". She is a quilt artist from Indiana. This beautiful quilt was exhibited recently in a small museum close to where I live. I took a lot of pictures there, but I choose this one, because it fits my card.....It almost looks like it inspired me to make the card (maybe unconsciously......), but I choose the picture after it was done....

So, that is my card - it was a painful process and took me a few days to arrive here - so atypical for me, usually I am quite fast....

So how did I do this one - I first stamped my favorite Ryn Tanaka  water droplet stamp with Staz-on on acetate. Then I ran the acetate through a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder. Make sure the Staz-on is really dry before you do that, otherside it messes up you embossing folder (guess how I know that...?) I added Stickles to the indentations of the acetate (on the back side of it) and let it dry over night. By the way - the droplets are on the back too. I added some white accents onto the water drops.

I used a tag die by Mama Elephant to die cut the acetate and the background paper. Embroidery floss is holding the tags together. I then stamped the sentiment on white card stock and ran it through my Big shot with the same embossing folder. And then I assembled the entire card. Not so difficult, huh! You wonder what took so long? Well, the entire card was a try and error thing until I felt it looks right. I think it was worth the effort, I just love to look at it - it sparkles nicely and still is CAS.

I am linking this card with

Hey Cornelia, Wow! Love both the quilt and the card. You're right, it does look like you were inspired by it :) I'm happy to hear that your blog is growing! I have been thinking about a way to have people upload their images directly to my site or blog but haven't found a way to do that yet. I will definitely keep you posted. Thanks for thinking of me. It is quite a bit of work to process photos but I so enjoy seeing them that it is well worth it! I'll add your card to my next Customer Creation blog post and will add you to February's draw for free stamp. Many many thanks :) It's great to hear from you again! Hugs back from Canada!

That card took my breath away! I have never seen that embossing folder and you used it so creatively! Embossing the acetate, the water droplet stamp, the glittered fish, how the embossed design continues on the card... I could go on and on raving about this card! It's just fantastic!

The cute bunnies got their yearly appearance - they are from Impression Obsession. the egg is by Lifestyle Crafts. The sentiment is by Papertrey. Dynamic Duos combined with CAS Colours and Sketches

I am getting the hang of combining challenges....not sure if that's good or bad... In the past I would just put all my "creative energy" into one challenge and then just link up with others, if the card just happened to fit...but now I do that on purpose. Well, I'll see how it goes....                           Anyhow here is the card that came out of this: I did not want to add a sentiment - I 'll add it later, when I know who will get it. And here is a close -up: Challenges: Dynamic Duos CAS Colours and Sketches Addicted to Stamps and More Amusing Challenges Materials: Papertrey Background Basics: Super Stripes, Memory Box Chloe Stem die. --X-- Card for Maddy: You may know already about  Maddy ,  who  was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and went through chemotherapy treatment followed by a stem cell transplant from her (then) fifteen year old sister Melanie.  She now has a relapse and this car
