Dynamic Duos #47

I can welcome two new members on my blog! Hurrah! It always makes me happy when I get a new member Christine Cyndie Both are avid card makers - go and check out their work - its fabulous! Thank you so much for joining!   And here is my welcome picture for you: The artist is  Nathan Sawaya  - I showed a different piece of him in a recent prior blog post . He  is a New York-based artist who builds three-dimensional sculptures and mosaics from popular everyday items and is best known for his work with  LEGO  bricks. Two years ago there was an exhibit in a small museum nearby, which was just fabulous! Perhaps I'll show more of his works  in future posts... --X-- Needed a break from working all day long and scoured blog land for challenges....Preferably something quick and easy. And dynamic duos was just right ! I pulled out my recollections SPLAT stamp set, combined it with a sentiment from papers mooches,...

Black tie Friday

It's Yellow and Black this week at Black Tie Friday ! I pretty much like any color with black - It always makes the colors  pop! And colors I like! Anybody who has come to my blog knows that..... So here is my take on it:  I made this flower from six 1 inch circles and assembled them to this rosette. I punched a 2 inch circle into the front of the card and lined up the flower rosette on the inside of the card so that it is centered. I had this chevron strip (Papertrey Zig Zag die) left over from the fusion card - I never throw anything out - you should see my stash of paper scraps - it keeps growing and growing.....And lastly I put a ready made flower into the center of the circle flower.   By the way - I did not come up with the circle flower idea - I learned about it last year in the Clean and Simple online class I took. There is no sentiment here - I did not think it needed one.

Collage and fusion

At the  Make it Monday over at Papertrey the theme is collage. I have never attempted a collage. I always found it daunting. But yesterday evening I gave it a try. Dawn McVey has a nice video on her blog - kind of a tutorial. I watched that, took the Playdate Cafe colors of the  week as a guide and here is my card. I think its okay for a first try. Although I generally favor brighter colors.                                                                           All stamps are Papertrey ( Papertrey Harvest Berries, Papertrey Iconic Images, Papertrey Polka Dot Basics and also Damask designs, although it does not show in the picture). --X-- And here is challenge #2 - the new  fusion challenge  by Jackie Rockwell and Lesley Croghan .  ...

Two years ago there was an exhibit in a small museum nearby, which was just fabulous! Perhaps I'll show more of his works  in future posts... --X-- But now, back to card making.... Pinspired #6 and CAS on Sunday

Here is a challenge for me:  Pinspired #6                                                          The last time I used nail polish was in my  teenage years and that was several lifetimes ago.....But I do like some glitter on my cards, sometimes.... So here is my take on it: I cut up strips of white cardboard, smeared them with inks in different colors and covered them with UTEE several times - always melting the stuff in between to get a thick layer on it. Once that was achieved, I dusted gold glitter on top and it stuck, because the Utee was still hot....I inked up the Hero Arts Zig Zag Background Cling with Versamark and stamped the card. The sentiment is a Studio 112 stamp (on foam dots) and the gold glitter strip I made with double sticky tape. This all sounds somewhat complicated, but it really wasn't. ...

Ombre at Moxie Fab

I made this card a while ago to send to my Blogging friend Sylvie to thank her for the give-away I won on her blog. I also had the Moxie Fab challenge in mind (forgive me, Sylvie), when I made this card. But the fact that the package came from Gibraltar and me being away in Texas delayed the mailing of this card and we are almost at the end of this challenge.... Sylvie - don't look...... I used the Impression Obsession background stamp - Gradation, sponged it with various greens. The sentiment is the Memory Box thanks die, the butterflies are a Tim Holtz die.
