Stempel Spass

It really took me forever to come up with an idea for the Twinery challenge                                                                I had a couple of them, but only in my head. I did not even try them out. Today I was actually making another card with watercolor paper and the block of paper I have is almost used up, but there are thin stripes, that remain. I detached them from the metal spiral and used them for this card: I cross-stitched them together with twine - of course.... A heart embellishment and the stamps are from Hero Arts - You and Me. I like it. It makes a strong statement, I think. It will go into my Valentine's card stash.... Never hurts, to be ahead of the game.... Oh yes, since I used snippets it will also go into the  Pixie's Crafty Snippets Playground ...

I have not played in the Fusion challenge forever, but when I saw this picture and the sketch I had to....                                                                 I ended up making two cards, using the leftover scraps for the second card. I used the Make a Splash set from Technique Tuesday. the newspapaer background I stamped with the Hero Arts Friend definition stamp in grey. I used a Cuttlebug Embossing Folder and the oval I cut with a Die-namics Die. I am also linking this card with the  Simon Says - Emboss it challenge  and with Night Shift stamping - Summer , because whale = ocean = summer fun - or do you think its too much of a stretch? Last weeks Make it Monday was not for me, but this one is! Its called "striped embossing"   and its a brain child of the brilliant   Betsy Veldman . Check it out - its really cool! You mask off part of the sentiment - or where ever you want your embossed stripes with post it notes, then sprinkle it with embossing powder, move the post it notes, repeat, until you have covered everything with embossing powder - heat it up and that is it. The only problem is that some of the embossing powder gets stuck where the sticky part of the post it note was....You kind of can see that. I did not like that part - I like my cards to be meticulous..... I was forced to take took a little break from cardmaking - with school starting and work and family obligations, there was simply no time. This card I made for Jingle Belles  took several days - no kidding, but in the end, 5 minutes here and there add up to one completed card....Not that I really was alot of work. I show you 3 views, because the embossing on the middle panel is subtle and hard to see. I used a Spellbinder plate for it. The sentiment is from Purple Onion design and the Papertrey Rickrack border die. Some ready made foil snowflakes, PP and brads. I had no  idea I was so productive in August - I guess I made up for my July low. Of course it helped, that my husband took the kids on vacation and I had all evenings to myself.... Simply Create Too's challenge is vintage. That was a true challenge for me. I guess that's why I joined a design team - to expand my card making skills...... so I struggled a bit with this one. I am just not a vintage type of gal....Although I do admire people who can do that.  I used the  Hero Arts Just saying Hi and Hero Arts Keyboard Alphabet sets. I ripped out a page of my local phone book and used a tag. The background paper is from K&C. The phone receiver handle is attached with a little ball chain -  (kind of the mini version of a toilet chain) and as you can see, it is removable. I am totally in love with this - especially the removable receiver... :) And I am proud of my first vintagy card, although I don't think I will add this to my repertoire.... You still have a little more than six days to play in the challenge! Come on over and motivate you kids too - there is a separate kids entry!

Christmas Stamping All Year Long has mini cards as a challenge this week and the prize is 7 free digis from Bugaboo stamps. Now I am definitely NOT a fan of digital stamps, but I would make an exception for Bugaboo - they are just too much fun! So I checked on this challenge and there were 3 hours left! No problem - speed is my specialty! I had this negative die cut laying around form a previous challenge and it needed to be used, so I quickly threw this together: The die cut is from Memory Box - Scribble Tree, the sentiment is Paper Smooches - Christmas sampler. Some enamel dots and the card is finished! and who knows, may be I'll be the lucky one and get the luck of the draw;) And since I used some left overs I am also going to link this card up with the Pixies Crafty Snippets Playground , what fun! And here is something else - a new discovery of mine: X-mas on Tuesday I am not sure about the rules - maybe none? If I find out, I'll let you know... --X-...
