Spotlight on Celebrate Artsy - Rainbow Medallions

Hi, its Cornelia here!

Today I want to explore some options with this fabulous set from STAMPlorations called Celebrate Artsy.

I have already played around with it in the past (click HERE if you want to see more),  it has so much potential! Recently over at Papertrey's Make it Monday Dawn McVey made a great video about rainbow medallions. I really wanted to try this out, but did not have time for it. Besides that I thought the STAMPlorations stamps are perfect for this and I could not have used them for Papertrey..... I did do this a little bit differently than Dawn - I have some pictures below. But first the cards:
For the first card I used that stamp that in my eyes looks like a fish (I made a fish card with it previously)

The sentiments are from the Sentiment Builders set: Happy. I fuzzy cut the HAPPY. Rounded the corners of the card.

For the second and third card I used the open oval and also  the Sentiment Builders set: Celebrate, with which I did some generational stamping and then colored it with Inktense pencils. I used the paint that was on the brush to lightly color the second generation imprint.

The third card I splattered with yellow and orange and used a enamel dot for the "flower" and rounded one corner.

So, how did I do my rainbow medallions?

I first selected my inks. I never really care what ink I use for what - I mainly care about the colors. I do love those Memento Luxe inks, but the green is just a bit on the dull side, so I went with my Adirondak ink instead. Sorry for the upside down ones - still have to learn how to do those posts more "professionally"....

You see that I started out with  faint pencil marks on white card stock. You do need to mark the center of the "medallion" as a starting point. In the Papertrey video Dawn used 8 colors, but I found that too little. So I used 3 different colors for each quarter of my medallion. I did not measure this, just eye-balled. I did choose a starting point on the stamp, which I tried to line up every time with my pencil crosshatch to get the stamping exact.

And if you get this right, then a pretty pattern emerges. No need to cover it up, really. although I did cover it  in the first card above.

Of course you have to erase those pencil marks - something I always have trouble with. Once you stamp over pencil it gets hard to remove, which does not matter much for the darker colors, but it really matters for the lighter colors - any suggestions? I tried all sorts of different erasers, but find no difference....

And here is my personal favorite from my three cards again:

Wanna give it a try? Go for it - it works with all sorts of stamps!

Thank you for visiting me today and if you click HERE it gets you over to STAMPlorations!

I am also linking this card with Time Out Challenges - Celebrate with optional butterflies
and with Simon Says Wednesday challenge - anything goes
and my all time favorite challenge - the Snippets Playground - use a snippet - the first card has the central round and the happy

Edited to link up with Seize the Birthday - anything Birthday

Your favorite is my favorite, too, Cornelia! But, all of these rainbows are beautiful.

I am currently working on a rainbow card also, but it isn't complete and I'm sure it won't be as fab as yours.

Love these--reminds me of Spirograph! I'd suggest trying a chalk wheel (in my sewing kit) or those chalk line things that handymen use (just dip some twine or thread in chalk and "snap" the line where you want it.). With the chalk wheel you just roll it along a ruler.

Hi Cornelia, sorry I haven't been by for a bit but this is such a creative use of the stamp set. I saw it on our gallery at TIME OUT and had to see how you did it! So very clever and my fav is the one with the rounded edge and enamel dot, it is amazing how a rounded edge can transform a card. Thanks for joining us at TIME OUT x

Danke für die "Nachhilfe" - selber kommt man manchmal nicht auf die einfachsten Ideen. Deshalb ist es immer erfrischend, Beispiele sehen zu können. Ich hoffe, bald dieses Stempelset in Händen halten zu können.

Easter Egg and Bunny

Hi Everyone, I made a bunch of Easter cards, after all its little more than one month and I need to send them out in time... You see, they are all similar - using both the die cut and the negative, that I cut from a die cut egg. The cute bunnies got their yearly appearance - they are from Impression Obsession. the egg is by Lifestyle Crafts. The sentiment is by Papertrey. And here are bigger photos from this set: Linking up with Creative with Stamps - Easter The Paper Players - die cutting Die Cut Divas - animals Happy Little Stampers - anything goes with dies

Dynamic Duos combined with CAS Colours and Sketches

I am getting the hang of combining challenges....not sure if that's good or bad... In the past I would just put all my "creative energy" into one challenge and then just link up with others, if the card just happened to fit...but now I do that on purpose. Well, I'll see how it goes....                           Anyhow here is the card that came out of this: I did not want to add a sentiment - I 'll add it later, when I know who will get it. And here is a close -up: Challenges: Dynamic Duos CAS Colours and Sketches Addicted to Stamps and More Amusing Challenges Materials: Papertrey Background Basics: Super Stripes, Memory Box Chloe Stem die. --X-- Card for Maddy: You may know already about  Maddy ,  who  was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia and went through chemotherapy treatment followed by a stem cell transplant from her (then) fifteen year old sister Melanie.  She now has a relapse and this car

Mirror Image Stamping with So Suzy and the MISTI

Hi Everyone, I am so happy to be part of this wonderful event - the collaboration between So Suzy and the MISTI from My Sweet Petunia doing mirror image stamping.  This event is going on for the ENTIRE  MONTH! We are demonstrating the  Mirror Image Stamp    which coordinates with the Misti Stamping Tool! All month long, different bloggers will post a card using the  Mirror Image Stamp .  In my tutorial today, I will show you how use the  Mirror Image Stamp  on your cards. You can basically double your stamp supplies that way! The  mirror image stamp  is  a 4.25" x 5.5" piece of red rubber with no foam backing. So much larger than the other mirror image stamps out there and therefore much more useful! Mirror Image stamp ,  Two Cats in a Tree If you want a video tutorial on how to do this I can highly recommend you watch THIS VIDEO on youtube. Explains it all in very little time! Or you can see the same thing on my photo tutorial. With mirror
