AAA challenge

Time again to play in the AAA challenge and this time i t is :  make a shaker card. I wanted to make a special card anyhow for my sister's BIG birthday. I love the inspiration picture and a card was born! I took the Papertrey numbers and die cut my card stock. Attached acetate behind and foam tape around the numbers. I first had some thicker foam tape, but all the sequins basically disappeared in a small clump when holding the card upright....so I disassembled it and took thinner foam tape - looks like a lot more sequins all of a sudden...  I heat embossed the sentiment in silver (Neat&Tangled - Across the card), to match the inspiration photo and added silver string with a brad and beads. Since all the beads were just lumping up when the card was upright and didn't look like anything I attached tiny drops of glossy accents to make them stay where they are.... I am also playing with this card at  Less is More  - Anything Goes Simon Says Wednesday c

Hi Everyone, Dream Valley's new challenge  is opening today - the theme is  Fav Colour Combo ! Now that's a great theme! Personally I like just about any color, and almost did a rainbow theme, but then in the end I settled for aqua and lime - nice summery colors: and made a one-layer card: Materials: Tim Holtz stencil - Splatters, TAWS - Sea Mates, TAWS - Gabfest - I made the sentiment with that, sequins and Stickles. I am also playing in some challenges with this card - see below. Little Tangles and Colour me....!

I am fairly busy getting a publication out there, but I took a break from the computer and made a card for  Little Tangles  - I just got some stamps I ordered recently and was hoping they would arrive in time for me to play with them in this challenge - and they did! I also really like this weeks  Colour me...!  colors - so naturally I combined the challenges..... I used a TCW Stencil and sponged the feathers. The sentiment is Neat&Tangled - Everyday Circles and even the sequins are from them - I love them - so elegant, those flat, matte sequins. I added some gold thread with tiny gold pearls on the ends. Used some foam tape to pop up the card panel and sentiment circle. Here is a slightly altered angle of the card- the light reflects differently off those sequins.  So, off to do more work......Did I tell you recently that I LOVE your comments? They get me going! Thanks and keep them coming...... ;) Challenges:  Less is More:  Anything Goes Snippets Playg

Muse #77

I have not played with the  Muse  in a while - there is just too many challenges and too much other schtuff to do......but I am back with one card. Now you may wonder how I got inspired to do this, but honestly I did get inspired by Marion's cute card! What I really wanted is an animal hanging upside down, instead of being perched on a branch, so I rummaged through my supplies and only found a monkey and a spider.....I settled for the spider. Since I reversed the animal, I also reversed the sentiment, stamping it on top. I only did a partial frame with Washi tape.  So, here you have it - totally inspired!!!!! Supplies: Spiders - Studio G, web - Craftsmart, sentiment - Martha Stewart. I am also linking this up with the  July Linky Party  for a chance to win a $25.00 gift card in the  a2zscrapbooking Store. And remember - Halloween is coming sooner than Christmas - eeeeek!

Running Colors

Just a quick card for today - I have been quite busy making card for upcoming DT assignments, since my vacation is coming up and everything has to be in place by then... but I found a little time to play in two challenges. Just Us Girls has some of my favorite color combination this week - I had to play...and then CASology got me thinking about their theme "RUN".... So that's what I decided to do: A little different from my usual style...running colors - I kind of like it - just very different - I guess all those STAMPloration stamps are just begging to be used in mixed media projects..... So I took some of those sprays that I have and put drops of liquid onto watercolor paper. Used a brush to spread the color around a bit and then had it run down the paper. I also spritzed the paper with water, to make the color more runny. Stamped some other stamps on top once the card was dry. Added colored Scotch tape on top and the sentiments.  I also think it

STAMPlorations Spotlight on Boxed Blooms and Bold Sentiments

Hi, its Cornelia here! Today I want to explore some options with the  Boxed Blooms and Bold Sentiments set from STAMPlorations. I have already played around with it HERE  and HERE . And if you are familiar with the STAMPlorations blog you have seen my teamies using it as well.  And that is what I want to share with you today: I used glossy paper and stamped with Staz-on ink and then used Marvy markers to color the images. I have that patterned paper at home, basically forever. It was the first patterned paper I ever bought. And I rarely ever use any.....but those stamps reminded me about some of those papers and wanted to incorporate it into a card somehow. I have tried them in the past, but found the pattern to overpowering and the colors weird......So I took some colored vellum and overlaid it onto the paper. I glued the vellum to the PP where the black panel is, so you won't see the glue. The string on top hold it in place there as well I h

STAMPlorations Sketch Challenge 16

Hi, here is my second blog post for today - please scroll down for the House of Cards challenge post! So its time again for the new sketch challenge at  STAMPlorations ! The background strip I made with a Tim Holtz stencil - its called dot fade  and you can also buy this in the STAMPlorations shop.  The butterflies are from the Vignette: Artful Flutters . I colored watercolor paper with distress inks and then stamped the butterflies onto it. Added a little Wink of Stella. The antennae I made with a thin wire and added Stickles to the ends. The  sentiment  is from the  SENTIMENT BUILDERS: Happy . And that is the sketch for this fortnight: Go and visit the  STAMPlorations blog  to let our wonderful DT inspire you and also have a look at the fabulous card from our very talented Guest Designer  Sue ! The challenge ends August 1; the winner will be announced August 5 I am also playing with this card in the Simon Says challenge  - spots and dots

Birthday Fishes

I recently ordered some Paper Smooches stamps (because I don't yet have enough stamps, LOL).....they are just so damn cute - hard to resist..... But anyhow this set came in handy for this weeks Paper Smooches challenge . The inspiration picture is below - subtle stripes in blue, yellow and soft pink. I used the fish from the set Birthday Buddies, stamped it in Versamark and heat embossed it in silver - those jars have a silver lid. I made a mask for the fishes and then used a Memory Box stencil to sponge the stripes waves. I colored the fish with Copics - stripes here as well.   You see the silver embossing better on the oblique image, straight on it looks like black ink....  Added the sentiment and bubbles (with glossy accents) and a jute bow. this is a one layer card, which qualifies it also for the A Blog named Hero challenge - which is collaborating with Paper Smooches right now I will also link up with KIS - add a bow Seize the Birthday - Twin
