House of Cards - Photo Inspiration any Style Challenge

Hi, friends!  It's time for another new  FIFTH WEEK  challenge here at House of Cards!  We've got a fabulous one for you this fortnight and we cannot wait to see what you've got in store for us!  Since our entire DT will be creating for this one, there is TONS of inspiration for you to choose from! Go over to the House of Cards  blog and see what our fabulous DT has created! You see I got inspired by the striped pillows and the vertical lines in this photo. I used a TCW stencil. The sentiment is by Papertrey - Mum's the Word. And those enamel dots - again! This WEEK, we're asking for  ANY AND ALL STYLES OF CREATIONS PLUS USE THIS PHOTO INSPIRATION ~ I hope to see you there! THIS IS A ONE WEEK CHALLENGE...please make sure to get your entries in before next Sunday at noon CST! :) I'm also  adding this card to the  Moxie Fab STENCIL challenge   and to Virginia's View challenge - its stencils for the next two weeks. Periodic Luck and Raindrops

Its LUCK over at CASology - took me a while to come up with something...... I took this from the periodic table of the elements - choosing Lutetium, Carbon and Potassium. I composed it and printed this out with my ancient printer. In case you are wondering about the pig - pigs are supposed to bring you good luck in Germany ( so called Gluecksschwein - I am German, in case you don't know). The sentiment is from a Hero Arts Christmas set called Merriest Wishes - I only used a part of it.....The little piggy is one of those $1 Michaels stamps and the arrow is Heidi Swap - another steal from Michaels And just that you don't think I am that brilliant - I got the inspiration from a pretty ugly lunch bag, that I found  by chance on the internet...                                                                                                             Pig at a German new year event, 1965. I like my card much better than that bag.....    --X-- And n

Paper Smooches

Just discovered tonight, that the Paper Smooches challenge is ending soon.....another of my la st minute projects.... I used the set Zoo Crew and some Washi tape, because it is already getting late.....The birthday sentiment is from Paper Smooches - Sentiment sampler. The speech bubbles are Heidi Swap - I just scooped them up on sale at Michaels - it even included the cutting die - who would have thought....I colored with Copics and sponged the edges of the panels.  This is the sketch: I am also linking this card with Seize the Birthday  - anything birthday

A Graphic Card for the Muse

Lyndal made a real stunning card for the  Muse  challenge, her card is below. I took my all time favorite TCW stencil to create this graphic card. The vertical stripes remind me about the trees and the coloring - well that is straight from Lyndals card. I added Paper Candy dots and colored them with Copics. I like those things - much cheaper than enamel dots and you can color them really easily in any color to fit your project. The only drawback is, that they are relatively large and only come in one size..... The sentiment is  Papertrey - Happy Trails Here is Lyndal's card: I am also adding this card to  Less is more   - Rules of Three recipe - used 3 colors   Moxie Fab STENCIL challenge

Trendy Feathers

I discovered a new challenge blog called  Steckenpferdchen . The challenge for this month is "Feathers" - Federn. Its a German blog, yeahh! (Dann sollte ich vielleicht auf Deutsch weiterschreiben.....) Since I have this beautiful feather set from Stamplorations, called Trendy Feathers I had to play in this challenge.... All stamp are form this set. The color block I made with a stencil I cut with my rectangular My Favorite Things Dienamics dies and sponged. The little "buttons" are Paper Pandy - colored with Copics - much cheaper than enamel dots and easier to ship..... I combined this with the sketch from   CAS Colours and Sketches  and the colors from Annabelle stamps - I have not played in that challenge in ages.....and since I made myself a stencil for this card, I also will link it with the  Moxie Fab STENCIL challenge  and   Less is more   - Rules of Three recipe - used 3 colors and 3 feathers!             Lots of challenges... its lat

TAWS # 50

The TAWS challenge  is up to #50 - a reason to celebrate! Have to play, of course! Here is my card: I used a Darice embossing folder to mimic the paving on the inspiration photo. I added Stickles in the color of the flowers in the basket. You can't really see it here, but it sparkles quite nicely. And the stamps are of course TAWS - the set is called "Blossom" I am also adding this card to  Less is more   - Rules of Three recipe - 3 big flowers, three Stickles dots on the sentiment, which has 3 words and  3 loops of twine - lots of 3's, huh!

CAS Colours and Sketches and Avery Elle

Avery Elle has a guest designer search for March - would be sooo cool, to be chosen! So I pulled out this fabulous set Bright Days to make this card. I did generational stamping here, using each color twice. Its pretty easy, you just have to be accurate. I cut out the sentiment banner - its from the same set and added those enamel dots. I really like this card - I always like geometrical patterns..... --X-- I finally got around to make this thank you card for Hazel frorm Craftyhazelnut's Christmas challenge   - I won this adorable owl  stamp set by Cupids stamps in her challenge a few weeks ago (ups...) and kept postponing making the card....sorry, Hazel, I hope you like it anyway.....The blue ovals I made form left over rubber scraps. Just in case you are not familiar with Hazels challenge - its Christmas all year round. I first thought I'll play there all year long, but I'm kind of "Christmased out" right now.....I already have a hu

Make it Monday #157 and a few Challenges

This weeks Make it Monday  is the brainchild of the super talented Betsy Veldman  who inspires us to make our own cover plates. This is really easy, if you have an unlimited supply of Papertrey products. However, if you don't it becomes quite tricky. I thought it would be easy, but no its not - at least not for me.....The problem with the older Papertrey dies is, that you can't break them apart - like the matching dies for my all time favorite set Happy Trails, which I first thought I'm going to use. So rummaging through my PTI box I found that the only dies I have are from the set Beautiful Blooms and that was that.... And here is the card: Its a little tricky to do, since the dies are only minimally larger than the stamps - so you can't really stamp into the opening as Betsy showed us in her video. I laid the card stock with the negative die cuts onto the card and traced around with a pencil. I removed the negative die cut and stamped into the traced out

Happy Birthday Maria!

Another Blog Land Birthday Celebration!!!!! Happy 50 Birthday   Maria! (from  rieslingmama ) You are amazingly creative, witty and fun! I'm glad I met you through blogging. You are always an inspiration to me! I wish you fifty more, my friend! This cake I found for you on Pinterest - I thought it best reflects your style - innovative, clean and a bit wonky ;) And here is my birthday card for you - I actually send you one through snail mail - that was before I got wind of the linky party that Shirley  clevery organized. The linky will be up for 2 weeks, so anybody can join into this celebration. Enjoy you BIG BIRTHDAY Maria! I used the Papertrey Rainbow Stripes die with the inlaid die cut technique. The balloons are Mama Elephant - Party Kit, the sentiment is Papertrey Think Big Favorites. I am also linking this card with  CASology  - the cue word is BLUSH and Seize the Birthday   - anything birthday with optional stitches Snippe

Color Throwdown #284

I needed another Bar Mitzvah card, so those colors from this weeks  Color Throwdown  challenge came in really handy..... I'm really into using stencils right now - they are so quick and easy and I love the effects you can achieve with them. This stencil is from TCW. The sentiment is a mixture of Neat&Tangled and Impression Obsession stamps. Added enamel dots - somehow they are on almost all of my cards nowadays.... Did I ever tell you that I love pottery? My hometown in Germany, where I grew up has the only pottery school in Germany. Naturally there are a lot of potters in that town and the vicinity. We had a lot of pottery at home and I have quite a few treasured pieces that I like to use frequently. Love that pot in the inspiration picture! I'm also  adding this card to the  Moxie Fab STENCIL challenge .

Masculine Birthday Card

I'm still playing around with my right now favorite TCW stencil. The possibilities are just endless... I decided to make a card for retrosketches and the Card Concept . I had my nephew in mind, when I made this card: I used Paper Smooches - Sentiment sampler and the RAD set from CASual Fridays. Added enamel dots I think this card classifies as clean and graphic. The challenge  at  Less is More  its stencils or masking - this will be my second card for it.... Here are the sketch and the inspiration picture:        and  Seize the Birthday   - anything birthday with optional stitches And lastly I'm adding this card to the  Moxie Fab STENCIL challenge , that has just started!

Colorful Crocs

I have made that card for Anita's birthday with the Inkspirational colors in mind, but when I wanted to link it up I saw to my dismay that the challenge was over - obviously I had miscalculated....but the new challenge was up and I immediately fell in love with their inspiration picture - see below. This is my interpretation: I kept the center panel square for the fusion sketch and I also took over the repetitive flower pattern from the fusion picture. I colored the crocs with Copics. All the stamps are Paper Smooches. Added twine from the Twinery and a button. Why don't you all just add a button to your cards and play in the House of Cards challenge - it runs for two weeks This card just puts a big smile on my face :) Challenges:  Inkspirational Paper smooches  - anything goes Fusion House of Cards - add a button (I'm on the DT there so it doesn't count) Simply Create Too - animals (also on the DT) Muse
