AnnasArt - Kreativer Monat

Tolle Idee.  Danke Anna! At  AnnasArt  there is now the "Creative Month" open. I found this quite recently on one of my Internet - sprees....Of course I have to be part of this! So here is a collection of most of my cards from January. I left some out, the pictures are getting too small. It is fun to see all those cards in one image. Cool idea. Thank you Anna!

Clean & Simple Day 1 and some other fun

Today is day 3 of the Clean & Simple card making class. I was soooo delightfully busy today that I did not even progress to day 2. So this little post is about day 1, using masking. There is not much masking on this card, oh well. Some of the hearts are from Michaels, as is the sentiment, some are from Hero Arts. I used a Fiskars corner punch and underlayed the corners with red paper.   I spent my day at the Newark Museum, which has a fun little exhibit about tea pots. Here are some examples. The variety was amazing and some of them were really fun, like the middle pot in the top row, which shows a building with plumming and a dog on top, Ha, ha...! Another really stunning piece was this: It looked like a golden, glittery tapestry, but it was assembled from metal cans. And now its movie time for me! Have a good night and thanks again for all those niece comments you left on my blog, I really enjoy reading them.

Watercolor Doodling

One Layer Wednesday  has this fun challenge this week wanting some doodling on the card. 6 days ago I wanted to make a card for that challenge and then I got sidetracked and completely forgot about it. So I checked today when Linky is closing and it is in 2 HOURS and 29 minutes!!! But I generally work well under pressure and here is what I came up with:  I inked up an acrylic block with distress inks, sprayed it with water and stamped it on watercolor paper. The flower is Hero Arts Watercolor Petals (Cl 431), the sentiment is Papertrey -Happy Trails. I doodled around the flowers with a black fine tipped pen and made the "frame". I purposefully made the lines shaky to make it as doodley as possible.  This is very different from what I normally make - I guess that is part of the challenges, to go beyond what feels comfortable some times. I like the result. - 1 hour and 57 minutes left - I could make another card in that time, but I guess I'll take it easy a

Various Hearts

First I want to welcome my new members on my blog Sudha Kalra and  jules ov crafts  Sudha is from Delhi and has an amazing website - beautiful cards and craft supplies. I did not find Jules on the web, so I can't tell you anything about him. But thanks for joining, I hope you have fun on my little blog. T snapped this picture for both of you. I went to a little exhibit in a nearby Museum (Morris Museum) and they had this amazing little exhibit called Toying with Art. This picture show one of Dalton Ghettis amazing pencil sculptures - masterpieces carved out of graphite. Absolutely amazing work. I thought I have to share that with you. I'll show you more in a later post.  And now back to card making... Toady was the first day of  This card I made using one of the "homework" sketches I used Sizzix heart dies to cut out the pink card layer, made a mask for the grey heart, which I sponged and then punched out the little red he

Glittery Heart Card

I had a delightful weekend. A long time friend came to visit and we did all sorts of fun together. There was no time for card making, but here is one I mad a little while ago. using some glitter paper that I recently picked up at Michaels. I used an old cuttlebug die for the hearts, the sentiment is Papertrey. The solid heart is on pop dots to add some dimension.  I am entering this card at the Drunken Stampers challenge  - All that glitters. You gotta love the name of that blog! I'll post some pictures from my weekend in one of my upcoming posts - I ran out of battery with my camera - stupid, not to recharge  - oh well... Thanks for all your kind comments - so fun to read them!

Make your own Background - with "Tutorial"

I have all those left over crayons from my children's earlier school days sitting in a drawer. I have real trouble throwing things out that can be potentially useful. and that's what lead to this card: Melted crayon shavings. The water droplet stamp is from Ryn Tanaka . She is a lovely girl from Canada, who designs her own rubber stamps and that is my favorite of her stamps . I put tiny white enamel accents on the water droplets. The sentiment is from Hero Arts (Heartfelt Messages Cl150).  I am submitting this to the Moxie Fab "Make your own Background" challenge And that's how you do this: Take some crayons, peel off the paper  use a pencil sharpener to make some shavings put parchment paper on top and start to iron until the crayons melt - goes very quickly and - Ta Da - that's how it looks like: And then you can stamp on this background whatever you want - Have FUN!

Color Embossing

I played around with color embossing after watching Heather's video on Make it Monday #101. I started with the grey PP and put the big yellow blossom in the bottom left corner, but had totally forgotten, that this yellow despite being opaque does not work.....Grrrr... So I took white cardstock and simultaneously color embossed both. I covered that mishap on the PP with some green leaves - I still like the end result. All stamps are  Papertrey - Beautiful Blooms and Dress Form. Tonight I won't be able to make cards - have to work until late :( At least its quiet enough for now to get that blog post out and link it up with Make it Mondays . Thank you all for visiting and those kind an  uplifting comments you left on my blog - they always put a smile on my face :)

GOLDEN OLDIE! combined with RIC#28

One of my favorite challenges is the  Runway Inspired Challenge . For this challenge they picked this gorgeous dress by  Carolina Herrera. What a dream of a dress! And what better stamps to use than one of my favorite little stamp sets from Hero Arts called box of dots. It came out in 2003 - long before I started stamping - I probably snatched it up on one of those stamp sales..... This way I can also link up this card with the A blog named Hero   GOLDEN OLDIE! challenge - how sweet! I stamped the dots randomly onto white card stock. Then I repeated the same on vellum and superimposed the two papers and attached them with vellum glue. The sentiment (Inkadinkadoo - Garden Flower) is stamped onto the paper, to give it a softer look. A thin silver thread on top - finito! Before I go  tonight I wanted to thank everybody for all  the sweet comments that were left on my blog. I hope you enjoy this entry as well - good night!

For Dasa and some Food

First some exciting good news - I won a spot from Laura Basssen's give-away at the next  Clean & Simple Card Making Class ! Yeahh, I am sooo excited! I took Clean & Simple class #1 and had sooo much fun. I also learned a lot there. So soon, this blog will be filled with all those new things I will be learning :) --X-- The lovely Dasa made  this adorable card   and posted it on flickr. I wish I could post it, but it seems to be protected, so go and check it out! So I asked her how she did this, thinking she inked up somebody's baby... But no, she made it with her hand.. So I gave it a try - the first ones failed miserably, but eventually I settled for this: The sentiment is Inkadinkadoo. --X-- And now some FOOD : I recently made Germknoedel - an Austrian specialty. You make a standard, simple yeast dough, let it rest and then form balls filled with prune filling. Let them rest again and boil them in salted water for about 6-8 minutes

Window Card

Here you can look into my little "aquarium".  The stamps are from Technique Tuesday - Make a Splash. I got them recently - they were nicely discounted at Ellen Hudson :). The school of fish is from Paper Source. I am submitting this to the Moxie Fab window card challenge And that 's how I made this card: I made a pencil circle on the background paper where the cut out would be. I clear embossed the fish and stamped the water plants with a Kaleidocolor ink pad. I filled a little zip lock bag with blue hairgel I stamped the front panel and sponged around the opening and then assembled the card with some foam dots.

CAS-ual Fridays and CASE-this-sketch with Hearts

I could not resist and made more cards for both those challenges. The   CAS-ual Fridays  challenge is "long and short". The heart is Recollections, the sentiment is craftsmart, the little hearts are made with a Fiskars corner stamp and the pink strip is made with two different pink inks applied directly to the paper. --X-- CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #11   has again a  fabulous  layout: The stripes on the left I made with my scoring board, the hearts are made with a Fiskars punch and the sentiment is Papertrey ( Mixed Messages). I mounted it on a red background card from Memory Box. And I put a generous layer of glossy accents on the red heart.

Two Cards - Four Challenges

At One Layer Wednesday the challenge is "WARM". Clearly this funky bird got inspired by that. He looks quite cozy in his scarf, stockings and sneakers!    CAS-ual Fridays likes their cards long and short this week. So this card is for both challenges. The bird is ancient and is from Stamps Happen. I colored him with Copics. The sentiment is partially from Snag'em Stamps. And then 2 more! COLOR Q challenge#172 combined with CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge #11 The diamonds are Lifestyle crafts, clear embossed with the Hero Arts Magical background stamp (CG211), the sentiment is Papertrey. The left half of the card is covered with vellum.

Blue with Washi

I made this birthday card for one of my sons good friends in Germany. I used Washi tape and the Inkadinkadoo Set Bird Assortment (97729)  - its one of my favorite sets from them, I have used it often. Those birds are just hilarious! I colored them with Prismacolor markers. And guess what - they also will go into the Simon Says Washi tape challenge and the CASology "Blue" Challenge . I thought I would skip on those challenges this week - too many other ones, too little time and I just won the last Simon Says challenge anyhow, but this card just begged to be put into those - haha....!! And here is a card my blogless sister made for me - a thank you for our yearly Chicago trip in December. I LOVE it - I hope you do too! I wish you a Fun filled weekend and Martin Luther Kings Day  - and here something funny for my German friends: My son goes:"Montag ist Martinstag, nicht wahr?" Sorry, too complicated to translate.

Fuer Lola

This card I made for Lola - my newest blog member. Lola has a fantastic blog, called   Lola's Kartenwelt . Her cards are beautiful and creative. Check them out if you have time. Hoffentlich gefaellt Dir meine Karte Lola! I hope you like my card Lola! The stamps are Hero Arts (Etched Medallion, Sending Smiles Messages) stamped with Versamark onto PP and white embossed. I applied a touch of chalk in the center of the medallion.

ABC12 ~ An Inspiration Challenge

A ll B eautiful C ards has this amazing inspiration photo for this weeks challenge: I just fell in love with that cardinal  - this pop of red among those snowy branches So I made this card with my new Penny Black " all you need..." stamp set. I first stamped it in light grey and clear embossed it. Then I stamped over the image in black using a slight off-set. I then masked the bootm with a post it note and sponged a little grey around the branches. The heart is made with a corner punch from  Fiskars.  --X-- AND NOW: And here is my card for the Retrosketches #46 challenge: I just turned the sketch around - why not ...... The stamps are Hero Arts Silhouette Fern (K5314) and Alpine Fern (C3637). I inked htem up with Versamark and clear embossed them.  The sentiment is Papertrey - Mixed Messages, used a small leaf punch from a company that does not like to put their name on their products....
